Yes you are right. With VPN set on my router direct, they were not blocked but Netflix US can only load to 25% before hanging.

May be you can remove the DNS from your router and try to put the DNS on your LG Tv. Then you open the Netflix app and search the US title you want to watch. Then start to play back the video.

SingTel is offering 3 months of free Netflix subscription to users who contract or recontract their mobile plans. But surprise surprise ! My friend fell for it only to find that the free subscription does not work if he is using wifi to sign in. Netflix is only free if he uses his 4G to watch. WTF !

They should give all subscribers lifetime 'free' Netflix subscriptions in that case as just watching Netflix on 4G could use up the bundled data plan for the whole month in one day and generate additional income for SingTel from subscribers exceeding their monthly allocations.

Wow.. only an idiot would use a limited data plan to stream video endlessly.

Bro, can you double check and confirm this?
Cause Netflix account does not tied down with Telco and can be log-in across wifi and lan on both PC and Smartphone.

erm .. i think you all misread the T&Cs la.

you need to be on 4G cellular to receive the promo code and register to get the 3 months free.

perhaps its some authentication process on Singtel and Netflix side. if not anybody also can share the promo link to enjoy 3 months.

of cos use Wi-Fi la.

why mention 4G and not 3G? cos new sign or re-con den get this promo. no 3G plans for customers to sign up ma.

so after that, confirm use Wi-Fi. anyway netflix is the one providing the content. how can telco decide that it will be streamed via cellular and not Wi-Fi?

doesnt make sense right?

Netflix

I got Netflix on my LG TV today, and am using MyRepublic (MR) fibre. When I sign up, I think I was automatically in Netflix US ( I just couldnt get into Netflix SG, probably due to the the teleport in MR). I was told by MR to get manually key in a new DNS in my Router setup, and everything worked fine (w/o signing up for any VPN/DNS service).

If, on and off, I want to access Netflix SG, Japan or Korea (for non-English content), what else should I do?

1) Sign up for VPN/DNS subscription? Which plan? (Initially, I tried signing for vyprvpn but after successfully signing up, they rejected me, saying not compatible!)
2) Change settings on my TV?
3) anything else?
