Just realised its charged instead of hold too, so technically u r “paying” $50 in advance for this atu. Might as well top up via app whenever needed. So for now, still need to ask for refund manually after deactivated?I'm using a NETS Flashpay card for ERP and carpark payments, and I registered for the Auto Top Up service with my credit card. NETS collects a $50 deposit for this service (actual charge to the card, not just a hold) upon registration that is held by NETS and not credited to the Flashpay card.
The reason is given on its website:
"In the event that NETS is unable to charge or collect the top-up amount from the registered credit/ debit card during the Auto Top-up process, NETS will offset the outstanding amount from your deposit."
I canceled the ATU service recently in October and assumed that the deposit will be automatically returned to my credit card. But there was no credit, so I contacted NETS last week via their webform to ask what happened to my deposit. Today I got a reply asking for bank account details for them to return my deposit.
I trawled their website and I can't find any info on how this deposit will be treated when the ATU is canceled. It seems that you have to actively ask for the return, at least in my case. I wonder if anyone else got their deposit returned automatically. Some of us might not even remember paying a deposit (I did only because I noticed NETS charged a deposit when I reregistered for ATU with a different credit card.)

hmmm? for vehicle OBU can meh?Actually why even bother to topup. This process was launched years ago when credit cards cannot be used directly on bus and mrt.
I prefer to charge direct to credit card and use simplygo app to check that fare is correct and raise claim to dispute if wrong eg missed exit (sometimes even though I am sure I tapped) or system captures wrong busstop
Netsflashpay card don't have as much details.
Not a driver but google shows this :hmmm? for vehicle OBU can meh?

With EMS, you can charge your Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and car park fees directly to your Mastercard or Visa credit/debit card.
