I think that one not me.. :D

I do not have the issue with the signal.. It seems the android box spec is not that great..

Thanks.. will try to search for memory cleaner in google apps store.

I see. You can run AIDA64 to check out the CPU/GPU configuration. That would be an interesting info.

I tend to think it is more an optimization issue. Not so sure which company is the OEM behind.

Mi Box S has pretty low end Amlogic S905X CPU but the optimization by Xiaomi is pretty good. So it is pretty smooth at 1080p 60Hz, okay at 4k 30Hz, but may not as smooth in 4k 60Hz.

Maybe you can check if the Starhub TV+ box becomes more smooth if you set the screen resolution to 1080p 60Hz or 50Hz.

If you have google play, i guess you can install. But you will be prompted for login. Not sure if the app is specific to some devices though.

You can export the apk from Android mobile phone.

I have done that on Mi Box S. It does not work. But some people claim it works. YMMV.

1) screen will need to be rotated, you may need to install apps like "set orientation" to do that.

2) you may need to use a mouse to click the icons.

For my case, the app exits after I finish input my user name and password.

On the other hand, Starhub TV+ works on my normal Android TV boxes not running official Android TV OS but rather mobile version of Android OS.

But you may be right that they have a special version for the TV+ box. I am guessing the first thing it will do is to check whether the HW is a TV+ box or not. If not it will exit.

yea i meant the "special box version" of the apk. probably involves sideloading an apk extractor app to export the apk!

You need that nokia router in order to support that. You can try the 2nd method. If can not just get a switch which is quite cheap.

Will a Tp-Link TL SG105 5port switch do the job?

Cos my mum recontracted the StarhubTV, the packages all changing to tv+ packs.
the sales guy say we getting 2 nokia Beacon.

The thing is the config i have at home.

TP is at where my pc is. so is where the current ONT and linksys router is. but my TV is not near the ONT, thus we deployed the powerline plug to deliver the content to the current black set top box.

so i'll need 2 lan ports, one to my pc for internet and one to supply to the set top box.

current config is ONT port 1 to linksys to my pc, and ONT port 2 to the powerline plug and to another powerline plug to my set top box.

considering the beacon only 1 lan port, will the TP Link TL SG105 work if i plug to the first beacon to supply to pc and set top box?

With the TV+ plan, you have to change to the new Starhub TV+ box. Your old Starhub Set Top box needs to be returned.

The following should work.
Option 1 (best if possible)
ONT -- Nokia Beacon 1 -- dumb switch -- PC (wired)+ Starhub TV+ box (wired)

Starhub TV+ box can be connected by wireless.
Option 2.
ONT -- Nokia Beacon 1 -- PC (wired)+ Starhub TV+ box (wireless)

I believe the following two should also work, please check with Starhub to confirm.

Option 3
ONT -- Nokia Beacon 1 Unit 1 -- PC

Nokia Beacon 1 Unit 1 -- wireless back haul -- Nokia Beacon 1 unit 2 -- Starhub TV+ box

Option 4
ONT -- Nokia Beacon 1 Unit 1 -- PC

Nokia Beacon 1 Unit 1 -- power line -- power line -- Nokia Beacon 1 unit 2 -- Starhub TV+ box

The drawback about antenna is must be near the window then can hang the antenna there.

Not really. It all depends on the orientation of the flat. For my new bto, I need to put the antenna in the living room near the window but it's not necessary for the one in the second bedroom.

Troublesome to use antenna for free to air channels because I have a few TV in my home.

Quite troublesome to watch free to air TV channels. I still prefer to stay with fibre TV box. Fibre TV is better.

@xiaofan
can i sort of combine option 1 nad 4 in the following manner?

ONT -- Nokia Beacon 1 -- TP-Link TLSG105 switch -- PC (wired)+ homeplug -- homeplug -- Starhub TV+ box (wired)

reason being, my pc is right next to the fibre termination pt/router.
and my tv is just 3 metres away. we used home plug cos my dad refuse to lay trunking to the wall and across the ceiling.

i intend to place Beacon 1 unit 2 near my door to "throw" the wifi into my bedroom. althought it's 2metres away from beacon 1 unit 1, once door close, wifi strength drops badly previously when i used singtel's aztech modem. i scared nokia beacon 1 also will like that.

You may not need the homeplug, the second unit near your door should be able to do the job. I do not think you need so much bandwidth for Starhub TV+. Singtel's Aztech is a very old router so may be signal not so good.

Found out that the TV+ box is made by Innopia, a South Korean company

Yes I believe this should work. But it is better to confirm with Starhub.
