Hi,

Has anyone tried connecting Asus XT8 2.5G port to the Starhub 10 Gbps Nokia ONT 10G port? Does the 10G port on the ONT support multi gig or it is only 10G. I just want to know if I can 1G connection, 2.5G connection or it will not have any connectivity at all. Thank you in advance for your advice.
multigig. The Nokia ONT will then transfer at most 2.5Gbps via the WAN of the XT8 main node cos the 2.5G WAN of XT8 is the limitation. I also replied to your post in the other thread you asked in.

Finally Starhub Trooper come to my house to do checking on my ONR. Found that some website can surf internet some cannot. Speedtest also cannot using direct connection to ONR. So inform HQ to change to ONT. starhub inform me that need their backend conversion first then can come back install ONT.
That is good news. what sites can not surf?

Keen to get 10GBPS internet.
Understand that only SingTel Starhub and MR has it, ruling out Simba for now.
Of those, only Starhub and MR has ONT.

I understand that MR is owned by Starhub and wanted to check, of those two, which is a more reliable network? I am on UDM Pro SE and understand that having static IP gives me the lowest ping/latency but at the risk of security breaches versus non-static (in which case SH/MR wont matter) which has obscurity from dynamic IP by ISP occasionally. IT Noob here.

As per the reports here, they seem to use the same backend network and the stability is probably the same. If your are not IT savvy, probably Starhub is a better bet.

On the other hand, both SH and MR 10Gbps plans have issues to deliver the expected 8.2Gbps speed during peak hours as per the reports here. So maybe you can save the money and go with Starhub 5Gbps plan at S$45 per month. You need to go down to Starhub shop to request to go with the XGS-PON ONT option (default is Nokia XS-2426X-A all-in-one XGS-PON ONR).

LIke what xiaofan said, go for the 5gbps plan. I recently signed up for 5 gbps (before reading this forum) and then started reading it and noticed the complaints about getting an ONR rather than ONT. In my haste I contacted SH to switch me over to a 10gbps plan. Now if I had read deeper before doing that, I would have found out that you could just request to get an ONT rather than ONR on the 5gbps plan (like what xiaofan said above).

Anyway I just started the 10gbps plan and yes I get 7-8 gbps (offpeak) - other than bragging rights (or some self satisfaction) there is no difference to a lower plan. I also realised that it is very costly (equipment wise) to enjoy 10gbps on the rest of your devices. Having said that, getting 10gbps reignited the interest in home servers and networking, and so am also quite happy by that :D

What is your speed during peak hours?

I'm not too familiar with how to upload pics / host my screenshot so here's the result typed out:

test time 9.07pm - I guess this is peak.
DL: 6924 mbps
UL: 4808 mbps

Just tested once right now (no retests). I think I've posted earlier that my UL speed seems capped at 5gbps no matter the time I do these tests. Maybe (??) some interference with my cables, although I still hit the full speeds for the DL. I'm on Cat5e, running about 20-30m from DB, to TV, to DB, to BR

Painful... hope you get it sorted. Have you reached higher speeds before?
No maximum is 4500 Mbps only because I am on ONR but upload is 7800 Mbps. Can see that SH also do not know what happened and catch no ball. They keep saying pending investigation.
