The StarHub 10 GBPs seems to be very attractive now. But it comes with a onr and also it’s a trial only till 31st December. So can’t use our own dns and Asus routers. Doesn’t want to stuck with a plan for 24 months with lousy router. Anyone please explain

I do not think this Nokia ONR is that lousy as it is a 10Gbps wireless router and not a standard 1Gbps router. I do not think everyone need to use their own DNS and auto DNS should not be a problem for most users.

I'm getting it simply for the TV channels, disney+, Netflix Premium, Viu Premium, Asian+, Entertainment and Sport. All these add up already exceed $88 if I only take up the TV. I treat the 10Gbps as bonus, not gonna use it. In fact, my current SH TV sub is $100 for only Betflix premium, asian and entertainment + 1Gbps + 2x set top boxes.

Too bad I can't sub because of SH dumb policy--They will activate the 10Gbps on 2nd port then deactivate the 1st port when everything goes on line with 10Gbps.

Lets hope next year have similar offer.

I always use my own Dns as per my specific needs. Only because of this, I am not able to take this plan. Otherwise, I agree, this is a very good offer for majority of the users

I read from here: https://corporate.starhub.com/content/dam/starhub/legal-notices-and-terms/consumer/ultraspeed.pdf and it says until June 2024, is this what @ra_khu is talking about? If so, what's gonna happen after that? :s11:

From the way your phrase it, is it bad to use their ONR, that lousy ah? :(

I think Starhub will launch the plan officially after the trial or extend the trial period again. They will not want to disturb their user who has already signed up for Ultra speed. I also noticed that Starhub has put up some advertisement on TV for this Ultra speed plan so I think they will not give up Ultra speed plan so easily. I think this Nokia router should be quite good to use.

Anyone using this Nokia ONR can provide the feedback about its performance and coverage.

Assuming I signed up for the 10Gbps, I cannot use my own wifi mesh?
Why not? Just connect your wifi mesh to the Nokia ONR. I am still using my old wifi router because i am lazy to setup new wifi network.

It freeze while watching the TV show.
So far didn't encounter that yet. But the point you mentioned previously, about the setup top box speaker, i do feel it kinda lame that starhub tv box cannot use external speaker as output. Luckily my soundbar is an old and noob one, for those who have thousands dollars sound system, ouchhhh

Anyway popi popi I don't encounter this, but i don't use it a lot, probably 1hr a day.

Good thing that you call in and change. I believe they surely have slot de la. I still can see the appointment time in my app, but the rescheduled button already greyed out. The charges only started after installation, but good thing to have everything done so can chill in front tv during Christmas eve

What is the alternative if cannot change DNS? I am currently using Adguard DNS and it work wonders in blocking ads.

Can also use browser app block. If use 3rd party DNS or VPN, the speed will be limited by the DNS or VPN so i stopped using VPN.
