For mine, don't really notice an issue with the battery because I leave in plugged in most of the time. When not on plug, don't face the blackout scenario.

BUT! I have been getting frequent Nvidia driver error which causes CS:GO to hang and it's really pek cek. Imagine playing halfway and the screen freeze followed by a windows notification that the system just recovered from a driver issue.

Damn zzz. Another issue I face is during boot up, the system will show that 'No media is detected', sometimes totally cannot detect the SSD. I had to remove the casing, re-attach the cables again for it to work. Will seriously consider doing a clean installation on the SSD if problem persist. :(

it says that my system is having the latest driver. Nvm. Will run a check again tonight against the data you provided. Btw, who else requested for the Win 8 installation disc from Tech Support and managed to get it? I tried but the person told me no such disc. Need to dl on my own. :(

For the win8 I think alienrespawn has the function for u to burn a recovery disk.

As for notebook cooler I bought the coolermaster u3 cus I like the fact u can place the fan anywhere u want but after using it I feel it's a bit too big (it's actually for 17"). I would recommend the U2 for the aw14.

Yea. I think the U2 is a good option also. Wanted to recommend that. But it's a big pricey

I think you an consider getting a Coolermaster U2 or U3. Personal favorite since you get to choose where to move the fan to optimize cooling. Note, U2 hs 2 fans while U3 has got 3 fans. But I suspect the difference might be small since 3 fans = weaker fans.

But to be honest, a laptop cooler can only offer very limited help since they all run on USB power and therefore, not powerful at all. ;)

i managed to self-fix my battery issue.
last night, i took out the base plate and remove the battery.
on close inspection, one of the connector pins on the mobo was bent, therefore the battery connecter cannot fully connect to the mobo.

using a small flat screwdriver, i straightened it, and after pressing power button for 30s to full discharge the laptop, i reconnected the battery, and screw back everything.

finally the battery can power up the laptop!

The Alienware comes with Dell Priority Phone Support, so call this hotline 1800 394 7486, rather than the normal Dell Tech Support hotline. The lady I spoke to understood that I was entitled to receive a Windows 8 OS disk once I told her I needed to do a clean install on a new SSD and AlienRespawn could not work because it reported that I needed a 750GB disk. Dell sent me a Windows 8 OS disk via DHL.

It looks like this

I just subscribed to SingTel Fibre on 31st July and currently waiting for the redemption letter to arrive. Anyone have any idea when I can expect to redeem the Alienware 14? I might get a mSATA hard disk and want to make it my primary disk for OS files only. Is there an online tutorials to transfer the OS from the existing hard disk to the new mSATA hard disk? Thanks in advance.
