Hello guys

Building a pc roughly $1200 ~ $1300 with monitor, windows. The main purpose is to play games (such as LoL and some of the latest games). Anyone could advice me? Gum xia everyone !!

With Monitor and Windows...

What size Monitor? and Windows 10 upgrade is free if you have Windows 7 or 8.1 for previous PC.

Latest games with that budget? Should be ok for 1080p with high settings

• Samsung C24F350FHE 24" 1080p Freesync $228

Total damage $1300
Only weakness is the Intel G4560... only 2 Cores 4 Threads
I would rather go with latest Ryzen R5 1400 build but might go over budget...
However, it is much stronger 4 core 8 threads for modern gaming needs.

As you can see, Ryzen 5 1400 OC vs i5 7400 vs G4560 - RX 480, G4560 is getting blottle necked on most games...

I suggest, Buy without Monitor at for Ryzen 5 System at $1185. and get a 2nd hand monitor from Carousell like Samsung Syncmaster 24" for $100 and be within budget!

Yes, i got windows 7, so i guess i could save it up.

The system you come out with Ryzen 5 is pretty good. IMO, i dont really mind aying slightly a bit more for the latest Ryzen 5 system since the perf is quite gd actually. 8gb ram will be enough ma?

As for monitor, 24 inch will do. Why RX 480 is preferred? Any reasons?

Ryzen uses Infinity Fabric which uses the same frequency as the RAM. The faster the RAM, the better the performance. So you will want as fast RAM as possible within budget.

Nice list. Although he would have to buy parts from three different places...

470 Gaming X is a great choice. Hopefully the DDR4 2400C15 G.Skill ram will be able to Overclock higher than 2400. Faster RAM helps for Ryzen.

You don't have to use any of the technology but still get a free upgrade.

8 GB is just enough RAM for most recent demanding games(because PS4 and XBOX One also is limited to 8gb). You could go with 1 stick of 8gb ram first and upgrade 2nd stick in the near future.

RX480 is prefered because the Samsung monitor supports freesync and nVidia do not have freesync. AMD has it. Once you go freesync, you'll never go back

RX480 is $343, RX470 is $309. for about extra 10% $$, you will get extra 10% performance out of RX480 compared to 470 so it is a worthwhile consideration.

Edit: You'll have to Overclock R5 1400 in-order to get good gaming performance! It's easy once you learn.

If I'm getting Freesync for free, at no extra cost, why not go for it?

GTX 1060 3gb is cut down in cores. Not worthy of 1060 title. 4gb vram 470 is more than 3gb of 1060. It has been shown that 3gb is bottlenecked in some games while 4gb runs fine.

True i will lose the freesync if i pick up a Nvidia card instead. Right now, i did saw a gtx 1060 promo which cost slightly less than RX 480. Hence im considering about that.

Because nVidia has cut down 10% of the cores from 6gb to 3gb card. (1280 vs 1152 cores) That is a loss of 10% performance.
