Hmm nowadays NOOK pricing ard USD$59 and add own USD$15 forwarding shipping charges, more or less same price with SGD$99.

Also the 2 weeks time and hassle of ordering and shipping it from USA to Singapore if ownself order from USA..

And that is without the casing, reading light and 3000 ebooks

IMO some things really cannot skimp on... Just to save a few dollars later if the device really c0ckup, go back to seller they'll just shrug off responsibility.

i am new to e-reader device. why is the kindle paperwhite response better than the nook?

I own a nook with glow light in the past and the screen always freezes, barely 6 months the screen cracked..gave up and changed to paper white. Lasted till now, 1 year already!

Screen cracking is due to operator error, so be sure to protect your PW.

Also has something to do with build quality la, actually...
And if your 1yr old PW screen cracks, can be used as an excuse to... You know... Upgrade to the new KPW

The nook simple touch is awesome, i love the physical buttons on the side that i can press. However, i those buttons are also its downfall. After a lot of use, maybe a few months if you read a lot, the buttons get stuck once in awhile and flip pages quickly until you press another button to stop it. 3 of my 4 buttons do that, and they slowly develop it after a few months of use.

I owned the NST before, and the buttons simply don't offer enough tactile feedback, they feel squishy. If you've tried the page turn buttons on the Kindle, the Nook's really can't compare.

But sadly, they got rid of page turn buttons altogether in the new NOOK

Are they easy to press for one handed use? I like that there are buttons on top and bottom so i can hold it anyway i want. The kindle's buttons do not look easy to press, they seem to be facing outwards rather than on the bezel. Will be looking for a replacement (kindle/nook) when the last button dies . Total 3 years of service, not bad..

I had the Kindle Keyboard, so I can't speak for the latest Kindles, but I'd really recommend the Kindle Paperwhite... I love page turn buttons but I gave the KPW a shot and HECK. I love it!

The light really makes the screen WHITE and you have to see it to believe it. (I feel like I'm advertising for the Kindle, LOL!)

Anyway ultimately it's still down to your personal preference. If you die die must have page turn buttons then get the basic Kindle then.

Have you considered the Kobo Aura? Pretty sweet, will be the eReader I'm getting when it's cheaper. It's slightly more expensive than the KPW at 150USD vs 119USD.

I didnt know the paperwhite was different from the basic, i thought it was just the screen. No physical buttons is really a deal breaker for me. Looks like my next one will be the kindle basic then.

I don't quite understand; what is the concern with the absence of page turn buttons? On the Paperwhite, the entire screen acts like 2 huge page buttons. You can also swipe anywhere to advance pages.

It depends on how you prefer to use your reader, what is there to understand? Some people like to swipe to change page, some like to tap, some like to scroll. I prefer to use one hand with by thumb over the physical button so i do not need to reach forward with my other hand to change the page, wiggle my thumb onto the screen or have to clean the smudge i leave behind on the screen.

Ok I understand. To be sure, please try and play around with an actual Kindle basic model. I find the buttons comparatively hard to press compared to the discontinued Kindle Keyboard model. Also, a physical button model forces your hand to be placed on a specific position and that may not be the optimum position for some people... A touch-screen model doesn't have this issue..

I suspect that you're the seller or something... You've been trying to advertise this particular NOOK for the 3rd time... And the 3000 ebooks are 99.9% pirated.
