Anyone bought the glowlight model? Is it that bad quality that will cost a tear on the screen after heavy usage?

Short review of Nook Simple Reader Glowlight

The bad reviews for this device got me a little worried about getting it. Anyway I had it for about a month, touch wood that it will not have the elope tears and holes in it that is common issue.

The nook is very comfortable to hold, especially the indent on the back of the nook makes it a better grip. The light source is at the top, and you have the option of using the side physical button or the touch screen to turn the page.

Battery is good, for typically daily 1 hr reading, the battery will last about 2 weeks or longer. Although it only supported epub, pdf and some other picture file type, but with Calibre you can convert other non-supported file type to epub for your nook.

The tricky part is converting chinese ebook to epub, where you need to know the correct chinese encoding and font for converting, otherwise nook will show garbage character.

My only gripe is that the page transition could have been better and more smooth.

Overall it is a good buy as compare to the new nook glowlight which remove away, the micro sd card reader, and the side button but in return for a higher resolution screen.

If you camp at amazon or barnes and noble, you can get it atUS$79 or less.

B+N should have just stay firm and concentrate on e-ink dedicated book readers, for comfort/no disturbance, no notifications reading. and drop all their color tablets. Like kindle,is hard balancing and tablet, against otter tablets.

But guess its all too late.

Amazon (Kindle) has a better ecosystem in terms of availability & pricing of books and etc. Better support in terms of software updates and features too.
All in all, people prefer big brands like Amazon to Barnes and Nobles.

The books for Kindle are generally cheaper, and there is more availability too.

the whole kindle ecosystem is much better...and by this i mean faster and seamless getting of books..You see a book you want, add to cart and bam, the next thing its on your reader...

thats the whole thing about it. Also, like many bros mentioned, the books tend to be cheaper, especially when they have sales going on..

Hi my friend will be returning from the US soon and I was thinking of asking him to help me buy a NST for me. Just wonder, if I have ebooks on my computer, would I be able to transfer them to the nook? Which format will be supported? I have ebooks in .epub and .mobi
Also since we are in Singapore, would we be able to purchase ebook? Apologies in advance if it has been asked before.

The Nook supports a microSD card so u can easily "sideload" or just plug it as a USB device.

Nvr had any issues with mine.

Use Calibre (google it) to convert books if u need to.
