So there are no problems buying directly from B&N? Wow. Makes this much more attractive compared to the kindle?

I had the Nook Touch for 2 weeks now, and I must say the touchscreen is absolutely fantastic, makes the interaction very intuitive, compared to the Kindle3 keyboard.

After using Kindle3 for many months, I find Nook falling short on a few points:

1. the book management on Nook pales in comparison to Kindle. I am unable to delete a book within Nook, this need to be done via the B&N website.

2. the physical buttons to flip the page needs to be press at a precise spot which is not visible to the eye, and with sufficient force. I have resort to using my nail to do this. Of course there is also the easier option to flip using the touchscreen which works perfectly.

3. syncing with the B&N library can be rather slow at times, something which I have never experienced with Amazon.

But despite the above cons, I am still loving the Nook for the ability to borrow ebooks from the NLB. This is reason enough for me to continue my reading pleasures on Nook, until Amazon hopefully adds the Adobe DRM to Kindle3 by year end.

Sorry, made a mistake. =:p You can't buy directly using Nook, but can browse the shop and download free sample. Can only purchase from B&N using computer + hotspot shield.

I have never used kindle before. There's also a hidden browser in this nook using the search function. The problem about that browser is that it doesn't function very well. After browsing a few pages it kind of stops you from going 'back' - unable to refresh the page. Another problem I faced is that some times the nook hang when I tap and hold to highlight things. Googled and read that this is a common problem with the new nook.

Received mine today via comgateway. I prefer it over Kindle because it has a MicroSD slot and supports the epub format. So far it's been great.

Anyone bought a case for Nook touch? The original from B&N is too expensive and it is hard to get nook accessories in Singapore.

How do you protect your screen now?

I bought "Madeleine Cover in Aqua for NOOK 2nd Edition". The cover adds on a significant amount of weight to the nook, can be slightly uncomfortable holding it. But the cover is pretty! :D However, the inside of the cover can be easily stained - my fingers transferred the ink from newspaper to the cover. :(

With the "15% OFF first international shipment" promotion for DBS/POSB cards, I paid USD 15.05. There was a free upgrade to express delivery too. Unfortunately I wasn't one of the first 100 per month to get a "free 1st kg shipping for first time users".

I've used vpost and comgateway now, so there's only borderlinx left to enjoy the first-time user discounts.

I'm using a padded envelope bought at Popular for $1. :D

Though it gets the job done, it looks ugly so I'm looking for a more permanent case.

I am interested in the Nook Touch because of the ability to borrow ebooks from NLB. Can we complete the whole borrowing process without a PC? e.g. access NLB mobile site, remember my login, browse ebooks, add to cart and checkout, download and read it all from the Nook.

Last night I order a Nook Touch via ComGateWay.com using sg cc, but the order status at bn.com is "Unable to process order. Please call 1-877-379-0036, or 212-414-6024, if outside U.S." Email to BN.com cs but no reply yet.
Any suggestion?

You can borrow the books from NLB without using a PC, but in order to transfer the ebook to Nook, this need to be done from a PC using the Adobe Digital Editions application. I am not aware of any other method that can bypass the PC :-(

This website has a detailed tutorial on transferring ebook to Nook.

Bought!

Just managed to get the Nook (and the device covers) from B&N.

Had a bit of trouble but managed to work around it.

Basically manged to use my CC (with SG Billing address) and vpost mailing addy. Once the order was completed, I had to call their Sales team (yes long distance to US) as your order will be placed on hold.

After the call, the Nooks (I bought 2) were shipped within 24 hours. The Nook and covers were somehow shipped separately but vpost will combine the packages into 1 SG shipment (not sure how the other US Transhipment services will handle this).

Now waiting for it to reach our shores.. can't wait to get it and check it out.. meanwhile already readying my ebooks! :s12:

Hi

I just bought a used Nook Touch but was not able to register it. It keeps showing the error msg that I'm not able to register and please contact helpdesk :(

Hence, I'm now still stuck at the setup page.

Has anyone encountered similar situation? The customer service from B&N has asked me to reset the device, but I'm still unable to register it.
