Thanks for the updates. Looks like still pretty good. You have Port 1 configured as ONT for Internet without Vlan (you can use any router for Internet access, similar to M1 and Starhub) and Port 2 for SingTel TV.

I believe your Port 2 is also okay for Internet, you can try to connect a laptop to Port 2 to see if that works.

doubt it..........later back home will try and post when the folks all asleep, dun wanna disturb their internet usage.

**UPDATE**

as a correction to my previous posts about the ONR bridge mode, port 1 for purely internet without VLAN config, ports 2 to 4 can connect to Singtel TV set-top box.

Yesterday I have tried to switch my Set Top Box connected to Port 2 of ONR to Port 3 & 4. It have no connection at all, Singtel channel will freeze with no re-connection established and TV flashes still image lost connection notice. I am not sure if Singtel back end will open the remaining ports should a user requires to rent additional set top box, as of now I only require 1.

Thanks for the update. My installation is scheduled on the 20th this month and I've requested for 3 set-top boxes to be able to connect directly to 3 of the remaining non bridge ports. Will update here of the outcome.

UPDATE 12 Apr

Tried comprehensive test around and confirmed. I can anyhow connect ports 2 to 4 for Singtel Set top box, somehow it was able to reconnect on it's own. Not too sure that previous time I tried it didn't reconnect. Connect to port 1 unable to reconnect Singtel TV.

As for internet connectivity other than port 1.......not able to establish internet connectivity for ports 2 to 4.

Apologies for previous not comprehensive testing

If you got time and you have SingTel issued AC Elite or AC Plus router, connect that to Port 2/3/4 to see if you can get internet access from there. Thanks.

Does anyone happen to know the super admin/pass of Singtel HG8244H? The root account is so limited that even can't change DNS servers.

The answer is in the SingTel installation guide:

If any changes are made, the ONR and router need to be reset for the ONR to issue new IP addresses.

Yes, my configuration is I can connect any 3rd party router or PC/laptop plug and play to the Huawei Fibre Optical Network Router in bridge mode. Do not be confused with the standard connection that comes with Singtel's own issued free router.

I don't have the Singtel issued routers to test this out.

But......I suspect with a vlan configuration done to my asus router, I can connect ports 2 to 4 for internet connectivity. :o

Not so sure what you mean here. You guys are taking my question to mum_hoe out of context. My question is specific to his special configuration of the ONR.

If you are using normal Huawei ONR configuration by SingTel, then you should be able to get internet access from all 4 ports. And you can connect SingTel TV box to any port. The downside is that your router can only work in AP mode if you want to avoid double NAT.

If you are using ONT (including the case that you have convinced SingTel to configure the Huawei ONR to ONT mode) then only Port 1 is working, you can use SingTel issued AC Plus router. In that case, you can connect Singtel TV box to any port. You can also use a Vlan enabled router from vendors like Asus. In that case, usually the Vlan preset will limit you to be able to connect SingTel TV box to port 4 because of the vlan preset.

Only the Huawei is an ONR. The others like ZTE is configured in ONT mode, even though they may have ONR printed on the housing.

I am using a ONR and a AC plus router. When I called the singtel hotline, they told me only port 1 can be used for the router. The rest is for the mio tv and maybe other computers?

Are you sure you have an ONR? Only the Huawei model is an ONR.

Then this is an ONR. You can connect SingTel TV box to any port. Your AC Plus work as an AP only. You can connect the AC Plus to any port as well.

Unless SingTel configured this ONR in ONT mode. In that case, only Port 1 is working. Your AC Plus then can only connect to Port 1 and work as a router, your SingTel TV box has to be connected to the AC Plus in this case. The other three ports of the ONR becomes useless.
