Just got a new Galaxy Alpha... I need help on the settings.
I usually set my phone on vibrate and want my phone to vibrate and notify when I receive phone calls/whatsapp/sms/wechat... but I don't want the phone to vibrate when I receive notifications from ALL other apps. How to set this? My old iphone5 can set...
Last kena waken up by stupid CNBC/Bloomberg news alerts. I still need the popup notifications, I just don't want it to ring/vibrate, just popup the news headline.

This won't completely resolve your issue, but you can disable notifications from individual apps by doing the following:

1. Go to Settings -> General -> Application Manager*
2. Swipe left till you reach the "All" tab
3. Tap on the app whose notifications you wish to disable
4. Make sure the "Show notifications" checkbox is unchecked

*May differ for the Alpha. I'm using my Note 3 as a guide. The Alpha has a differently organized settings menu. The idea is to go to the Application Manager.

Edit: The app called Megasound seems to do what you want - change the sound settings of individual app notifications. It's free and I've tried it out for a while. It's not entirely easy to use either, because to disable a notification's sound, you need to supply a silent mp3 file (like this one http://jetcityorange.com/silent-ringtone/silence-1sec.mp3 download it with your phone) to use for the ringtone, but it works.
