and the fact that nicole seah and not goh meng seng who request for donations speaks volumes that they think they can recoup losses from her fans.

who need the money now? NSP or nicole seah?
goh meng seng should come out and explain

of course , but saying u over spent ask for help is very uncredible for your party

"To my Friends and Supporters

Would you consider helping to defray the costs and expenses incurred in running the NSP Marine Parade Campaign?

These include the following items:

(1) Production (Artwork and Printing) of Flyers, Posters, Banners, Election Booklets
(2) Postage and distribution of Election Booklets to Marine Parade residents
(3) Labour to put up and take down Posters and Banners
(4) Production of “Chope” Tissue Packs
(5) Setting up stage, barricades, spotlights, sound system, etc for Rally at Aljunied Open Field on 28 April 2011
(6) Rental of lorry, with driver and fixing of ambulating loud speakers for 9 days
(7) Food and refreshments for volunteers
(8) T-shirts for volunteers
(9) Translation services
(10) Rental of room for press conference
(11) Rental of video equipment
(12) Telecommunications, Transport, photocopying, stationery and incidentals

We are currently in the process of compiling the list of costs and expenses for the Marine Parade Campaign (excluding items to be borne by NSP at party level).

Based on the invoices at hand to date, the Marine Parade Campaign expenses are well over $35,000 and will be borne by my team mates and I personally, as candidates.

I am legally allowed to ask for contributions from fellow Singaporeans. Hence, do consider if you could help.

** No amount is too small! **

Your contribution of any amount, will be very much appreciated!

Any excess over the amount required to cover the costs of the Marine Parade Campaign will be handed to NSP.

Yours sincerely

Read carefully. that is her own words. does it say anywhere that they overspent? she even give budgetary breakdown to show you how much contesting in an election costs. It is perfectly normal to ask for donations. GMS even sold his flat to help pay for his costs. WP and SDP didn't ask because they use the sales from merchandise to defray their election costs. you buy their stuff is the same thing as donating to the party. She didn't say die die you must donate. just donate if you can. I think the fact they came up with their own money first to make sure they can contest is admirable because they wanted all of us to have the ability to cast our vote. i think we should help them out if we are able.

tis "joker" sold his house to finance the elections and lost his brother (who overworked himself during the campaign)...and he continued with the election campaign despite the loss....i doubt not many here would be able to match his commitment to the cause....

One must not confuse commitment with competence.

you totally missed the point. their problem is not even that they overspent. it appears that they failed to budget (or cannot be bothered to budget) for these expenses. if really money not enough, don't spend on the unnecessary. most of these expenses should have been forecasted and many could have been avoided by appealing to volunteers, donors before the election and not anyhow spend thinking can always ask for donations from smitten fans later.

look through their expense list, got chope tissue some more. posters and banners i thought nsp put up themselves?

and begging for money via facebook and appealing to the naive "fans" AFTER the election really makes one wonder if they are really that serious about serving singaporeans in the first place. want to gamble on getting $15K/mth MP allowance but expecting singaporeans to pay for all their miscellaneous expenses?

the actress supposedly so sad and cry about the poor over a couple of hundred dollars and has no shame in asking for well over $35,000 NOT for helping the poor but to cover all the misc expenses of these young professionals who think running for election is an all expenses paid jaunt.

think if these wannabe politicians are so poor that they cannot even afford to fork out a small sum of money for their own compaign, its better they spent their youth working to support themselves before even professing to help others. but most working professionals would have no problems paying for these expenses themselves so is this a case of them expecting singaporeans to foot all their bills?

money does not grow on tress and for them to spend well over $35K AND expect others to pay for all their expenses is really too much. this money can go a long way to helping the poor residents they profess to want to serve.

and worst, can also use personal bank account to seek donations from the public

instead of saying show me the money, they should put their own money where their mouth is.

the point was made in reference to him being labeled a "joker"...does the guy really deserve the tag of being a joker just tt he messed up on his election strategy? alot of point was made about his strategy in retrospect after the Aljunied WP team succeeded..

political donations are very common in the UK and US...in the United States...both the Democrats and Republicans politicans depend heavily on political dontions to run their election campaigns...dun see wad is so wrong about asking for donation in sg...
