I know a lot of people can’t resist getting other region switch now especially with some countries like HK potentially getting it cheaper due to FX. But seeing how this is a 1) first gen switch 2 with potential manufacturing issues, 2) joycons apparently still susceptible to drifting, and 3) harder to fix according to ifixit, I think I rather stick to a Singapore set for local return and repairs.

Hmm so have to wait for singapore eshop to be up before can redeem hk set mario kart? Otherwise if want to redeem now have to choose HK eshop?

codes are region locked, SG eshop up or not does not matter. you wan to redeem now, then yes you gotta change region to HK.

i saw review for HK set is digital code to redeem from shop.. if its HK eshop then need to create a new account already
If your current region account doesn’t have any balance left . You can just change region . But if you have balance inside then you can’t . Have to do a new account . Actually most switch user have multiple switch profile with different region for easy access to dlc or such 🤣

as switch physical games a lot comes from different region .

HK mario bundle is a download key, not the game card. so your mario game will only work on HK nintendo account..

Yes, you can just swap countries willy-nilly via a dropdown menu. For example, I use the U.S. eShop on my main account.

(Not at all like the country-locked PSN platform, if you're familiar with that one.)

Big streamers sometimes like to be in "New Zealand" to get early releases. Mainland Chinese set theirs to the cheapest eShops that accept their payment methods etc.

Caveats: Any stored balance doesn't carry over. Also can't change it if you have auto-renew on for a subscription, or a pending pre-order.

I would say Nintendo is the safest when it comes to hardware quality (most of the time), they rarely have any major defects in design, partly due to their console not really powerful in my opinion so it's less strict tolerance compared to PS.

And their warranty in SEA is not that great to begin with anyway lol.

So just to confirm, if I change my US account to an HK one to redeem the download code for Mario Kart World, when I go back to the US account it will continue to show as purchased? Sorry I've never done this before so I'm a bit nervous.

Hmmm maybe the hardware itself, but switch accessories like the joycon really CMI. I had to fix my 2 sets of joycons at least twice each.

Oh yeah, sorry. Specifically raw hardware system is ok, the Joycon really is one problem lol.

But we don't get aftersales like US market does, where the consumer protection very strong.
