Anyone tried using a Type-C HDMI hub instead of the Switch dock to connect to the TV? Exploring such an option cuz the dock is kind of bulky to bring around.

Wanted to try too. But saw few says switch can be easily bricked if accecories not compatible?

Type c hdmi a bit risky as said. There are 3rd party docks which get bricked consoles.

Omg that's crazy... I kinda got the hub for free, now that I read this, better not attempt to use on the Switch for now...

Actually it will likely just not work. The switch dock uses weird stuff like converting from HDMI to displayport and there is a chip.
The banned ones are trying to emulate the dock which causes issues.

That doesn't even apply to his case, you need to buy a license and physical equipment to even pirate stuff on the Switch now.

My philosophy for buying a new console.

Find at least X amount of games you want to play on it then buy.

poster did not specify but from the description it reads like a 2nd hand set. it's the previous owner that is the unknown quantity here. if the previous owner did pirate (which i personally hope they did not even at this stage of the hardware lifecycle) and got their console banned - the previous owner may be trying to peddle it off to unsuspecting buyer.

u could try to validate that the console is not banned from online when u meet a buyer.

Again, there's no reasonable easy way to pirate Switch games now without resorting to a PHYSICAL jig and dongle. There's no un-tethered way now.

Even if banned, it's only that specific physical game and not console. Paranoid much?

I’m pretty sure the ban is for that console itself.
