Both my joycons have damaged flex cables for the SL and SR cables. Seems like the bend when assembling cannot last

Ordered the ribbon and LED chassis from Ebay already.

Happen to one of my joycon and I replace it myself, not too difficult to do but I think I use the wrong screwdriver. I used the one for NDS which is like a bit bigger so I stripped a bit of the screw.

Waiting for parts now, Your replacement cable, did you stuff it under the battery tray or same positioning over the battery?
I saw some videos online they mentioned stuffing under the battery will not cause the same damage.

The ribbon cable was damaged becos you opened the joycon and accidentally pulled it, or it was already damaged through normal use of the joycon (without opening it)?

Its broken the moment i opened up, did not pull on it.

I opened it very long ago to change the chipped locking mechanism, Never opened since then, Never noticed anything off until i wanted to play Mario Kart. Both joycons have no LED indications and thats why i open up.
Not my first time opening so i know the ribbon there is fragile.

But i feel that the factory installation is bad, The ribbon basically is bent 180° when its between the battery and housing, i think that causes finicky connection as well.

Same as the original position, I dont dare to touch the battery in case I spoil the connection.

Mine is spoil by itself, and after opening it I can understand why because the ribbon cable is really bend quite badly in order to squeeze inside the joycon.

Ya, bent in 180° could certainly cause a problem, though I have seen those in other places without issue. The PS4 controller has that too, but the 180° bend is above the battery with space to move, not squeezed down tightly.

Tucking it under the battery where there is some space, as seen in the video, is definitely a better option. Still, there must be some manufacturing issue to begin with.

The PS4 controller ribbon is tougher seems to be a rubber coating? The switch one is quite rigid, like a very thin layer of arcylic not sure why they install it this way also.

Exact point of failure, pictures from Ifixit, can see clearly where the cable is bent 180° so that the ribbon is sandwiched between the shell and the battery pack.
