Yes, I heard too. They going to charge you for any game that you install from eshop. I think that's outrageous. Cancel pre-order!!!

If I remember correctly, they will be charging to use the eshop?

Its true. I'm nin-10-doll. Next time you turn on wifi mode to connect to internet $10. Turn on wifi mode to play joycon wirelessly $5. Go in eshop $15. Download games without paying the games yet $5.

Song Song Gao my bank.

Wow..browsing eshop also need to charge? This is a new level of chop carrot..haha..~~"

Well as in the future , akin to psn subcription .
Now they got almost no online games nor services...

No sane human would sign up for that now :s22:

I estimated it would take at least 1 year to wait for all the multi-online/ indie games releases to make it actually seem remote attractive .

I doubt nintendo could offer mthly free games like ps+ since they so stingy and stubborn .
They got lots of old gen game library and they still barely using it to their advantage.

If only there are still game available.
Most sold out except for Zelda, 12 Switch and overpriced import

Actually looking at the pre-order option like mario cart & arms etc..

Btw before this "promo", previously qishan on shoppe also offer a $5 discount storewide i think.. so its kinda just a renamed promo to sell their switch stuff

It's mentioned (by mainstream gaming media, not sure if nintendo officially annouced though) that they will be offering monthly free game. Notice I said "game" and not "games", cos it will be 1 game per month. When ps+ and xbox live gold offer monthly free games (around 6 per month), you can continue to play long after that month, as long as you are subscriber. Nintendo's free game can only be played during that 1 month. It's also mentioned that the free game will be SNES era game. So that implies virtual console. That means the paid service will not start until VC is available, or paid service will start without free game.

If it's akin to PS, then access to e-shop is definitely free.
I've never bought any PS Plus subscription and I can buy digital games just fine.

Looking at http://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/ , the only things you get by paying sub is:
-. Online Gameplay
-. Online Lobby and Voice Chat App
-. Monthly Game Download (?)
-. Exclusive Deals

For online game, MK8D, Arms and Splatoon supposedly will have online mode and all of them are supposed to come within the next 6 months.
I don't think they dare to charge for online without any game to play online.

By the way PS Plus free game is usually so bad, not many people would even bother to download.
I think last 2-3 months PS Asia is quite good, but if you look over at US and EU, they give out shovelware for the freebies :s13:

So bad? Obviously another anti-indie view.

Just look at the numbers:

2016
Average Metacritic score: 74.1
Average price: $16.20

METACRITIC RANGES
90 and up: 2 titles
80 to 89: 18
70 to 79: 33
60 to 69: 10
59 and below: 7

PRICE RANGES:
$25 and up: 7 titles
$20 to $24.99: 1
$15 to $19.99: 17
$10 to $14.99: 20
$5 to $9.99: 25
$4.99 and under: 1

(analysis)

2015
Average score: 75.5
Average price: 14.63

METACRITIC RANGES
90 and up: 4 titles
80 to 89: 30
70 to 79: 53
60 to 69: 15
59 and below: 6

PRICE RANGES
$25 and up: 3 titles
$20 to $24.99: 3
$15 to $19.99: 18
$10 to $14.99: 50
$5 to $9.99: 31
$4.99 and under: 3

(analysis)

What's 'so bad' about having 1/3 of the free games scoring over 80 metacritics, 3/4 scoring over 70?

Just becos games are not of the genre or production value that you like don't make them 'bad'. If people don't want to try new and good games (that are free!), just want to stick to what they are familiar with, that's their own loss.

I am using the term "free" as used by Marukoban and the referenced articles, as well as the general term for such. Your mobile phone or internet providers also give 'free' phones, laptops, tv etc. You are just going to call them "free" for easy reference, instead of "free but actually you are paying for it becos they increased your monthly bill to spread out the cost blah blah blah". You already paid 59.99USD a year, if you don't go download the 'free', and mostly good, games to try them out, hey you are still paying 59.99USD a year, it's your loss.

I actually subscribe to PS PLUS just for the games and not for the online multiplayer feature. I have to date used none of the PS Plus multiplayer function on my PS4.

I would prefer to call it a rental for 5 games monthly that comes with "free"multiplayer feature for the PS4 instead :s13:.
