but how do we arrange something like this?
How do I add $$ in the US account? It's asking for US Postal code. First time Nintendo user here... Tia!
I just got off the phone with DHL Singapore. The guy told me that we need to get Amazon to call DHL Japan and have them clarify the contents of the shipment, because as of now, Amazon only indicates that there are "Game items" inside.
Update: Amazon jp chat is useless. They told me they will investigate and get back to me within 5 business days!! I'm calling them directly now..
Attn: People who ordered from Amazon JP
I just got off the phone with a rep and she said that Amazon JP is currently launching an investigation as there are a lot of customers (international) currently filing complaints with regards to the hold being put on our Nintendo Switch. She said we'll have to give them a bit more time, "a few days", and they will get back to us through e-mail.
The issue is that Amazon didn't declare the rechargeable batteries, they only indicated it was a gaming item (!!!). I've spoken to a DHL representative and they have told me that Amazon can easily make a quick phone call to clarify the contents and DHL will subsequently release it, even over the weekend. BUT Amazon is telling me they need a few days.
I see two scenarios:
1. Amazon gets in contact with DHL Japan over the weekend, clear up the miscommunication, and DHL ships to us by delivery date.
2. DHL returns the package to Amazon JP, and then we cry and contemplate the meaning of life.
Actually can feedback to amazon.jp and ask for compensation, but no guarantees that they will do anything about it.
So it seems like those coming from Osaka are getting held for this.
Mine is from Nagoya. So far no such message yet.
This issue is odd because typically the battery requirement applies to loose batteries not installed in a device. The Joycon is like any other game controller with battery.
They will probably just give you a credit voucher

Mine is at Narita but I doubt i would be so lucky to escape the issue.![]()

So at this point of time, there is nothing we can do at our end?

Got built in battery that's why classified as dangerous goods. Buy locally save the hassle. U end up paying more for shipping and the total sum could end up same as local set price.
But my Controllers all ship out without issue from amazon jp leh... what's the fuss now?
My controller is shipping no problem, it's the Switch because of the # of batteries.
