logistically the students who are supposed proceed to sec 5 would be released at the same time with the other better students. wouldnt it be tougher competition for them?

Save budget no need to send papers to UK to mark.

I don’t think cost is the concern.

Will our National exam certificates be recognized by overseas universities?

If not, your kids will graduate from local Uni which might have time stamp of 5 years validity…all seems to add up now.

Also, the world economy is interconnected. If your kids don’t have the exposure to study outside sg, they are at disadvantage competing with overseas applicants.

I see no merits in this change.
All I see is churning out more “cotton” …

No more GCE N and O levels from 2027.

replaced by

A new common national exam
From 2027, Secondary 4 students will sit for a common national
exam and receive the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary
Education Certificate (SEC) that reflects the subject level at
which they offered each subject. This will replace the current
N- and O-Level exams.

this one is for O and N level.. it don't allow to any uni at all in the first place. so get rid of it is right thing to do.

to get admission to overseas uni is either A level or poly diploma :)
