sounds good till you remember the reality check:

sure they got the brand name back but do they have the
expertise back?
Fast forward to today. Mr Partinen is still an Apple employee. and nokia has no evidence that it still has employees with that guy's level of experience/expertise. Even if they did, then how do they explain why the Nokia 8 Siroccos camera was so underwhelming?
Therefore I think HMD still need to rebuild their talent pool as part of their post-microsoft resurrection. They need to plunge their efforts into improving their software, giving us more stuff like HDR+ or shutter speeds longer than 4 seconds (if i want a good camera that can only shoot up to 4s i rather buy a pixel 2) and less stuff like bothie-portrait gimmicks.
I have a 7 Plus. While it lack OIS and has crap low light noise reduction if you dont lean on HDR as a crutch, it has a big sensor. Thats a wise move and shows that they're at least avoiding the slim phone temptation that produced so many tiny 1/3" sensors that are already at the physical limit of image quality.
I hope with the nokia 9 they can fix where the sirocco fell short, so that if they really start slapping pureview on their phone branding again, then the pureview actually means something. IFA starts this Fri, so hopefully we'll be able to learn some news on their direction.
