Haha... I think can skip it even if it is going to release by this year.

ever since Apple's notch came out, almost every flagship phones are following. my 6P is dying already and P3XL seems disappointing, thought Nokia 9 can be my last hope.

If Nokia is going to release Nokia 9 within this year, it will be a smartphone with "old" chip in a few months time.

well, dont really matter. either N9 or P3XL chips will become old in a few months time.

it happened for my N6P when i got it too. blame it on myself for only wanting stock Android phones.

Is the build quality of Nokia as sturdy and reliable as before? All my Android phones somehow will give problems after 2 years

Ya, hopefully got some feedback.
Sometimes no feedback means no problems :s22:

But what the rest of the ppl used the new android Nokia any issues?

My S7 edge after 2 years got this thick pink line on the right screen. apparently quite common. Contacted RWM, no trade in. means goner...

So far hardware feels sturdy. No issues.

For almost stock Android phones, I think they last quite long. I can't say for Nokia, but for Motorola, my G4 is still performing decently now. Not much lag...

Compared with my HTC phones which have bloated software... they have slowed down a lot. Reformat and reinstall still very slow.

So if we compare Nokia with Motorola phones, I think they should be similar in that aspect.

My Nokia 8 is reaching 1 year old. Next year 2 years old. Next year I update again.

How's the Nokia 8?

For me, it's good and it feels snappy. I only use it for WhatsApp, surfing, Youtubing, Facebook and Twitter.

Occasionally some pictures editing.

Updates are regular too.

Oh, and camera is good too. Many friends like the photos coming out from my phone.

Which outlet?

Challenger Jurong Point and Bugis have demo sets

Thanks. I'll check it out soon, especially the Bugis one.

Do you have MX Player installed? I'd like to know if it supports certain hardware codecs.

sounds good till you remember the reality check:

https://www.cultofmac.com/278312/apple-snaps-nokia-pureview-camera-engineer/

sure they got the brand name back but do they have the expertise back?

Fast forward to today. Mr Partinen is still an Apple employee. and nokia has no evidence that it still has employees with that guy's level of experience/expertise. Even if they did, then how do they explain why the Nokia 8 Siroccos camera was so underwhelming?

Therefore I think HMD still need to rebuild their talent pool as part of their post-microsoft resurrection. They need to plunge their efforts into improving their software, giving us more stuff like HDR+ or shutter speeds longer than 4 seconds (if i want a good camera that can only shoot up to 4s i rather buy a pixel 2) and less stuff like bothie-portrait gimmicks.

I have a 7 Plus. While it lack OIS and has crap low light noise reduction if you dont lean on HDR as a crutch, it has a big sensor. Thats a wise move and shows that they're at least avoiding the slim phone temptation that produced so many tiny 1/3" sensors that are already at the physical limit of image quality.

I hope with the nokia 9 they can fix where the sirocco fell short, so that if they really start slapping pureview on their phone branding again, then the pureview actually means something. IFA starts this Fri, so hopefully we'll be able to learn some news on their direction.

But I think getting back the technology is the first step. Not sure how they could further develop without getting their hands back on the tech. Next, hopefully they can hire him back.

Actually ar... I still don't think iPhone photos are getting back just because he's there (I thought so at first, but doesn't seem so after reviewing various photos). It's probably a combination of hardware and software engineering. HMD is doing a lot of things right with hardware. With the right people, perhaps Nokia can revive itself again and perhaps surpass others in the camera area.
