HMD Global has launched the Nokia 8.1 in India. The phone is priced at INR 26,999 ($372) and will be available in only one variant, starting December 21, with pre-orders starting December 10. The phone can be purchased across all major offline retailers as well as online through Amazon and Nokia.com.

The Nokia 8.1 is a mid-range smartphone. It has a 6.18-inch, FullHD+ IPS display. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

Pricing somewhat similar to Mi A2/Mi A2 Lite when it was just released on similar specs...

Mid-range devices prices are increasing faster than salaries can increase, lol. Next time can only buy low end devices liao.

No

Unless Nokia comes out with something better than iOS and Android.

Microsoft, with all its resources, failed. Google is nowhere near the success of Apple.

However, Nokia does have some advantages which IMO it has not taken advantage - hardware and telecommunication engineering knowledge. They should marry both to create a product that's stable. The closest competitor in terms of profile similarities is Huawei.

did u update to pie via ota? did it wipe data? how to update to pie without wiping data?

So far their products has got no unique selling point except stock android. They need to produce something consumers wanted.

Nokia 8 Android Pie has arrived.

Android Pie update is giving me some headache, namely installing/updating apps and unable to sync/search my Bluetooth devices.

Based on Google searches, one cause of the problem is the Google app. Need to disable Google app to get things working. Not sure if disabling Google app will cause major issues. I have not tested further.

If you use Google a lot, then temporary solution is to disable and re-enable Google app as and when you need to sync/search for Bluetooth devices and update your apps.

Not sure if anyone of you encountered this issue.

I think the storage of the Google app might have some corruption during the upgrade.

I re-enabled Google app, cleared the storage data and tried to install some apps. It's working again.

Some pros & con of the phone... it is VoLTE-capable but it doesn't do 5ghz wifi and it's screen resolution is just 720p (6" screen)...
