noob ryzen start off

i just built a mATX.

CPU: ryzen 5 3600
Mobo: Asrock B450M Pro 4 ($371 bundle with CPU. Can get cheaper at some shops in SL)
RAM: 2x8gb g.skill flare 3200 ($120~)
GPU: Zotac 1660 Super 6GB ($370)
PSU: CM MWE BRONZE 650 (Less than $120 i think, forgot alr haha)
Casing: Q300P ($99) Wont really recommend this case cause fan wires short.
SSD/HDD: Reuse

Running on stock cpu cooler.
I think you may take a reference from the prices above. Not sure if it helps but good luck!

Nothing to headache, all now waiting for ryzen 4000 for the last stage than we will move on to DDR5 world..
If you can get, buy the 3800x, not to mention 3900x overkill you..
For RAM, just go for anything as in Singapore all selling only CL16 only which doesn't matter unless CL14 which is different story..

Not bad. I built using a Silverstone RVZ03 with a 3600 and a 1070 (evga) and the temps are fantastic.

now what i have shortlisted...

cpu: amd ryzen 5 3600
because this is the mainstream and best value for money from my initial planned 2600.
i guess this will def be good for gaming and maybe some video rendering & editing

mobo: gigabyte aorus b450 itx
small and gets the job done, tbh if i dont use a window styled case, most prolly would even go for the asrock variant.
Not really into the RGB hype thou.

GPU: EVGA gtx 1660 super twin fan
just a smaller sized gpu so to make anything more compact.

Ram: Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 MHz
as noted by @rashkae that its the sweet spot for the ryzen

PSU: corsair sf450w
just like how sleek this is, and full black cables!!!

SSD: 1tb
mainly for OS, video and photo editing software. i only play DOTA 2 and COD:2
not intending to put a hdd to reduce cable clutter. not sure what brand will be the most efficient

as i dont want noisy fans going at full speed but also heard reviews saying that single 120mm rad AIO are not very cost and cooling efficent,
looking at corsair h60 and nzxt m22 for its sleek look.

looking at lianli tu150, coolermaster elite 130 & FD core 500.
lianli will be for visuals and i like to cable mgmt options
if no visual, elite 130 or core 500
leaning towards lianli even thou i dont have RGB but still wanna see my OCD cable mgmt haha!

CPU cooler will depend on the casing you get.

As for the Lexar drive, do note it has poor sustained write performance if you're looking at using it to store video renders.

Current plan:
Case - Tecware Alpha M ($54)
CPU+Mobo - Ryzen 3600 + MSI B450M Mortar Max ($437)
GPU - Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT ($440)
RAM - G.skills Ripjaw V 3000mhz 16gb ($120)
Storage - 120GB SSD for OS, 256/500GB SSD for apps/games, 1TB HDD
PSU - ???

Mostly used for 1080p gaming, netflix and some work. No plans to overclock. Prices are pulled from the price list that is available in hwz from various vendors. Rough estimation of the above plan should sit between 1.2-1.3k.

1. How do I calculate how much wattage I need for my system and which brand would you guys recommend?
2. Is there a big difference between in performance between 2600 and 3600? Trying to lower down the cost and the price difference is about ~$100 between the 2
3. How do I check whether a B450 board can be used with 3000 series Ryzen out of the box? I do know the MSI ones has the "Max" on it but what about other brands?
4. Will 1660 super be enough for my needs instead of 5600 XT?

I do understand that there's no need for a separate SSD for OS and it would bring my cost down a little, its just a personal preference.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

1. 650w is a good target. Peak consumption for you will be about 300-350w, so you're in the 50% efficiency sweet spot. Look for the Moneyface build guides, there's a few brands that are good.

3. Check the manufacturer site. Usually the box will have a sticker on it as well that says Ryzen 3000 ready

4. Both OK, but best to read some benchmarks to get an idea of the difference.

you can google PSU calculator, based on your specs, 450W is minimum so anything above that is fine (assuming not OC). Try to get 80plus bronze at least, i think PSU is the most important hardware.

2600 VS 3600, you can youtube videos, should have alot of comparison videos, from my friends' feedbacks, 2600 is bad for gaming (still alright but you will always feel that imperfection). why not 3500X? it has the same gaming performance as 3600 but with 6C6T.

Most B450 does not come with Zen2 BIOS, some Motherboards have usb-flash option that enable you to flash without cpu (different brand different names), for my asrock x470, i bought a 200GE just to flash BIOS.... LOL

1660 Super is fine for 1080P, 5600XT vs 1660 Super, i guess is up to your preference. i chose 5600XT cos of free games and i have been very satisfied with AMD cards since 580. (i used to have GTX 960, 980, 1070)

When the 4000 series release by end of year, sell off the 1600AF and get the 4000 series which will be the final AM4 motherboard compatible lineup.

This is a cost effective plan becoz if u get 3000 and wanna sell it off later you will lose more money than a 1600AF.

Never ever buy a 2600 because it's literally a 1600AF..

yes. I have a 2200g running on 2133.. if depends on your monitor.. if u running a regular 60 fps fhd monitor, it really doesnt make different
