I also find the focusing irritating... coming from a Note 2 user.

Tried an Apps, CameraMX, seem the same. My wife having same phone taking same object, same lighting condition and hers look much better then mine.

Any other Apps can recommend ?

Thanks...

Note 3 Camera Focus Is Clearly Faulty!

It's easy to reproduce the problem. Just go to a dimly lit place. It doesn't need to be too dim; just enough to warrant night mode. Then try to focus on anything. 90% of the time, the camera can't lock the focus even though you can see that sometimes (for a fraction of a second) the image is quite sharp in the viewfinder when the focus is adjusting. But the focus just keeps changing and finally the red rectangle shows up.

The latest OTA update doesn't solve this problem.

Ya.... You are right. The problem is the same as what you have mention. Will go down to Samsung at jurong point to ask for 1 to 1 exchange.

I don't think it's hardware issue. Better not exchange your phone. Your new phone may have other problems (dead pixels, button too hard, screen with slight imperfection, etc.). If you are unlucky, the process could be very frustrating and time consuming.

Can anyone here say for certain that they do not have camera focus issue under low light conditions?

The macro function can't function if the object is too near to the lens. There is a minimum distance unlike some of the dedicated camera where 0cm macro distance is possible.

Please move the object or camera away from each other and then focus again.

In this case, you shall ask for 1 to 1 exchange, bring your wife one together and proof to them.

High possible your unit is faulty as I don't have any issue taking closed macro as well.

Re

I tried it. I believe the camera needs to be at least 5cm from the dark surface for macro shots

Note: the low light focusing issue cannot be resolved by using a third party camera app. I believe all those apps still rely on Samsung's own code to do the focusing task.

The only thing to do is to make collective noise at Samsung until they fix it.
