ever thought of getting a note 4 too.
personally, I'm a battery freak.
the things I do to a new android smartphone,in order:
1. remove those widgets/pages not in use.
2. explore the settings ,from begin to end,off NFC/location/GPS,etc
3. to transit between apps and homescreen faster: about phone>tap 7x on build number>go back to developer options>transition animation scale>off)
4. not sure can you create shortcuts for settings on touchwiz, create apps ,so that you can monitor the RAM usage. same goes to battery usage.
5. if you do not need google+ and it's apps like hangouts, google books/games/music etc, go into each app and and each setting to off the notification, sign out of google, disable location history too.
6. access the settings of those downloaded apps to off refresh updates/auto updates, send analytics usage to Google, etc. applies to google play store too.
7. most tedious thing to do is scroll through all the apps under apps to disable those that are redundant to you.
the official facebook standalone app runs in the background when the screen is off, consumes 100+MB RAM usually. that's why i facebook on browser instead (UC mini, opera mini) with the former consumes normally not higher than 50MB RAM.
have stopped using battery saving app like "2x battery".
instead,
I downloaded and installed greenify, add those running in background apps. create widget "hibernate + lock screen". this is very useful since it does not only hibernate (force stop) those chosen apps, but also off the screen. sibeh useful.
personally I have purchased "smart data switch pro",it disabled mobile data the moment the screen is off and enable it back once the screen is on, in a matter of 2secs.
sorry for my long post. just to share only.
