HC803 CHINESE TRADITION & SOCIETY (CHINESE)

My heart sank when I entered the LT for the 1st time. I felt like a foreigner (not a FT of course), even though I am holding a pink IC.

Taking this module is equivalent to challenging the PRCs in their own backyard. Think of the Singapore Lions travelling to Rio de Janeiro and challenging the Brazilians to a game of football.

For Singaporeans contemplating the addition of this module, please think twice before you act.

It is very sad.

sigh.. ok so EE3002 relies on quite a lot of knowledge from EE2008? I'm taking EE2008 now.. but I only have 20 AUs now and all the "good" electives have no slots..

CSC106 Discrete Mathematics - HaNgHaNg

Includes 2 assignments total 10%, 20% lecture quiz and 70% exam.

Can understand lecture notes does not imply can do tutorial and exam questions. (E.g. Pigeonhole Principle is easy to understand but application of it on problems is another story). Recursion is another difficult topic to master and requires substantial practice.

CPE/CSC183 Engineers & Society

Purely lectures. 1 1 hour and another 2 hours per week.

Assessment is purely based on exams. 4 essay questions each 25 marks.

For AY2007/08 Semester 1, exam was 1 page. Each question is 1 sentence. Answer the question straight to the point. Memorize key points of topics and plan before u answer. Exam is hectic and write until hand pain, but can be a paper in which if u study well u can come out confident.

And please go for the lectures.

CSC103 - Foundation Mathematics
CPE103 - Mathematics I

Consists of 2 components - first part is Probability and Statistics and second part is calculus. It is easier to score in the Statistics portion and most poly students need to work extra hard for the calculus portion. Bridging course (extra lessons) was conducted in AY2007/08 Semester 1.

Assessment for AY2007/08 Semester 1 was mid term quiz on Probability and Statistics only and exam. The quiz is to help in the overall grade. Exam is open book.
