They seriously need to consider removing Webmaster as possible career in the future. Webmaster sounds so geocities and fortunecity era making the above statement contradicting.

erm... whats wrong with "webmaster"? if you go linkedin or any of the online job boards, you'll still see many webmaster jobs. and you'll notice these are definitely not entry-level type of jobs

besides, experienced corporate webmasters can get paid a lot because it usually requires a wide range of skills - tech, language, design and business. not easy finding people who can excel in such diverse areas. a lot of people are strong in tech, but have no idea how to deal with generating content or have no marketing acumen on optimising SEO/SEM or translate web analytics to complement offline strategies.

there are quite a number of such opportunities in singapore esp in the finance industry. and right now demand for labour > supply. many back office tech positions in singapore are being outsourced but the web team is usually retained because it requires local knowledge. case in point: HSBC singapore recently cut 100 jobs locally and new hiring in many teams has frozen but they are still hiring for their web team. I know of many other of such cases but I guess one example should be sufficient.

I got the "Offered Admission" status via the website. I have not received the official letter via snail mail. I should wait for it first right?

I am doing the Msc in Infomation Systems. Yes we can arrange for carpooling privately, provided our timetable allow us to do that.:)

Yes, there's a URL inside the package notes to accept the offer.

It was mentioned on the admission website that it can take up to 2 weeks (if u are local like me it arrived within 1 week after the website showed "offered admission")

Sure, thanks for the offer to carpool, we shall play by ear :)

totally not. I think it's perfectly fine for them to list "webmaster" as a possible career since that is indeed what some of their graduates do.

wow.. that's quite a dream you have there! attaboy! =)

Thanks for the info. It's quite a short time to consider if one person has applied to different UNIS..

You can proceed on to accept the offer from NTU first if you want to.. If you choose to take up another offer from another school, just make sure that you do it before the end of 2nd week of school. =)

Thanks! Yeap.. I lived in Singapore. So basically, it only takes a day for the mail to reach us (sort of SLA). Where are you from?

I'm from Indo but currently living in land faar faaar away (London, UK). If the deadline is 17th May, its gonna be pretty tight, getting kinda worried that the mail won't arrive on time... wonder if I should just accept the offer even before I get the official offer letter package.. hmmmmm

plus need to apply to student accommodation which needs me to accept the offer to be able to apply ~_~ hope theres still space left...

btw, do you know how the job scene is for web developers/programmers in Singapore? Its one of most popular and highly paid jobs here in the UK, just wondering if its the same case in Singapore or not

WHAT!?! official registration is at June??? dang I thought its on July... does it say what date exactly the registration is going to be? I need to get student accommodation before then and book tickets for that date... dang getting a bit stressed now having less time than what I initially thought

I'm doing MSc Info Sys full-time and yes I am going to quit my work... a year without any income is gonna be really tough.... maybe can get part time work on the side? hmmm

No.. I'm coming from the perspective of fees payment. It did state that if you choose to drop out of school within the first 2 weeks of school, you'll not be required to pay school fees. But that does not take into account the registration fees you'll need to pay during matriculation. And it might also implicate matters if you try to apply to this school again in the future.
