NUS B Tech

All the btech programmes except for the Industrial Eng programme (which is relatively new anyway) are accredited by IES. I think this is a proof of the quality of NUS btech degrees.

In any case, why would NUS want to dish out some substandard degree programmes to tarnish it's own reputation.

I just completed the btech chem eng course last year. Chose to complete it in 3.5 years. You can take up to 8 years to complete though.

The degree itself reflects B.Tech in Chem Eng.

The exams usually accounts for 60 - 70% of the mark.

Piece of advice to share. Though i wouldn't say the programme is easy, however you can definitely complete it if you have the discipline and perseverance.

I have a diploma for chem eng and have been working for 2 to 3 yrs.
i missed the foundation course for chem eng b tech.
My friend took it and passed me his notes. Defintely not easy. Especially since just pure reading from notes and trying to understand.

Thinking to apply soon as deadline is 09 dec. Isit defintely will get selected for the entry test?

if so, they would not mentioned it is following full time curriculum closely.and NUS would not even wanna offer this course at all.
this is still competitive as compare with other degree.

Look at it more intuitively. Set your sights above these facades. It's true that BTech follows the full-time curriculum closely. No offense, it's good but it's a far cry from the full-time degree. I hate to explicate it distinctively but since working individuals love to prospect contrast in earnings, just approach a BTech graduate and enquire how much is he/she earning after graduation.

It is definitely not a substandard or mediocre degree but you can liken it as an alternative path for polytechnic graduants to pursue a local varsity degree that aligns industrial expandability instead of academia accomplishments.

Putting it simple, one puts you ready to join the workforce, the other puts you ready to lead and change the workforce.

A degree is just a paper that opens a door for that job opportunity. Once you are in on the job, it is your capability that matters. If fresh grad, they see your paper (degree, class of honours etc) for that first job. Other than that, they view experience liao and your capability.

To me, NUS B Tech is inferior compared to NTU B Eng. However, B Tech might be better than UniSIM B Eng and other distance learning B Eng prog. My view nia....

Not sure if the prof smoked us. He told us NUS ranking will only get better and better so if your Degree from NUS, u bao jaik... Not sure if he bluff chewren one.

Anyway, my first sem completed liao. Dunno how I fared for this first exams. I would say the pace is just nice for me, though got fugging a lot of assignments. Overall experience till now has been good. Prof quality also good imo.

some people no need entrance exams. Seems like it also depends on which poly u from. If from SP or ngee ann, chances are u no need take entrance. NYP might need. This is what I found out when talking to classmates. Not sure zhun or not.Heard the entrance not easy one. But me from Electronics though.

Best is to ask you boss write recommendation letter for u. Might help your application.

Actually,u can apply first. If u can get in without entrance. U can still go for the foundation course before you sem starts to refesh yourself.

Have applied already. will only know outcome 1.5 months later.

Nonetheless, have started on studying the foundation notes (its alot, defintely not easy) in preparation for entry test.
