Hi all, can someone who is currently in engineering or had graduated advise on this? Which has better learning experiences? Better prospect? Easier to study in? Better environment?

NUS engine is tougher than NTU engine. Just look at the difference in their year 1 exam papers.

Hi Thanks for your reply! I do not have access to any papers... Nor do i have any seniors in engineering. But overall would you suggest NUS or NTU?

Generally both are somewhat equally-regarded in Singapore

But:
1) NUS has better branding and is more established; employers overseas have probably heard of it more than NTU. May affect your application to grad school in the future.
2) NTU content is easier and the students they take in generally didn't do as well relatively at A levels compared to NUS, therefore maybe easier for you to score at NTU.
3)NUS has better overseas opportunities like exchange programmes and overseas internships(silicon valley included).
4)NTU has a more cheena culture than NUS(not a bad thing; just the type of people you usually click with).

What you said is very true. I also heard about the cheena culture. There are many china or other FTs who have no commitments who mug all day and they pose as a huge challenge to attain our honours. that was what i heard, is it true? The part about NTU being easier to score makes lots of sense, thanks for your suggestion!

Precisely why I vote for NUS.

Guess what? Employers know that too.

Employers is not going to weed out all NTU grads and not even entertain them.
Many just bring the entire gang in and test them b4 the interview. Score bad u think NUS grad going to help?

Just apply to both, choose later

i just lol when i look at how u all argue. If u bekan, u think employer care whether u ntu or nus. it is just a degree when u go out work, it is how u perform that matters.

the question is how does an employer know whether you are bekan or not before hiring you ;)

What is Bekan? Employer usually try to weed it with some test, lazy that is hard.
Then Ppl with 1st don't mean they know how to get the job done, maybe just exam smart.
That's why the 3mth probation is handy super Bekan and u are done

As long as you are from NTU & NUS for engineering degree, all employers in Singapore recognize your degree but to shortlist you for interview for even hire you really depend on organization need.

For overseas, they recognize their own home country university degree more then other country university degree. There are a lot of universities in a country & in the world. The words National University of Singapore stand a better chance of being consider for a position in overseas is more then strange name like Nanyang Technological University in the opinions of employers especially from SME.

China? UK? Canada? USA? Depends some hr in the valley have not heard of Insead.
Graduate school they don't matter, it's more grades, recommendation letter and research.

Quote for truth. Pity most students don't see the impact of this when choosing schools.

Just apply for both then see what is offered to you. But once the offers from both unis come, I would choose NUS over NTU if I were you. And this is coming from a NTU student. But be prepared to mug like hell no matter which uni you choose because it is god damned engineering you are talking about! :s13:

My friends are all discouraging me saying engineering is really hard and i have to mug and i wont have any time to hang out and enjoy my campus life, biz or arts students can party or go out but engine students have to mug daily and also must sacrifice sleep. Is that true?
