NTUC still use tonnes of plastic for packing
hawkers already charging 30c for take away but it doesn't stop plastic use. they charge as source of extra income.

just total ban instead of keep adding to living cost.
+ ban cigarette cos it causes cancer and litter, air pollution, second hand smoke
+ ban liquor since it causes liver problem, fighting, drink driving, social problems
if can ban gums, these can be banned

See everything is double std.. meaning it will be ok if u r rich and can afford to pay premium. But if not you low ses and cant pay for it, u will be label as ungreen, wasteful, contributing carbon ..etc.

All these in the grand name of protecting earth, via carbon tax, reduce plastic, take public transport is good, ask your aircon set to 25 degree ..etc while the elites themselves didnt even take the lead in any of the above. If fact they drive bigger cars they produce more co2, gcb use more aircon ..etc. Their only justification is they are paying more so it is legit even they produce more co2 per pax. Sound as if their money auto clean up the air or reduce global warming

Zaobao: 近半受访者每周丢逾四个塑料袋 收费2角可改使用习惯

Summary:
According to a NUS research, near to half of the interviewees threw away 4 plastic bags on the average per week. Charging 20 cents per plastic bag may "change this habit".

This is not even a test balloon anymore. When such news comes out, we can be quite sure that it would be implemented. Never mind the sample size/cpmposition, the need to bag rubbish before disposing, or the use of incinerators on most of the rubbish here.

With 66% strong mandate, what is there to deter them?

Here we go again . No need to guess who sponsor this "research".

Matter of time they charge you using lift ,escalator even oxygen at this rate .

Death would be a blessing at that point.

Close down all retail . Nothing to sell planet is safe from plastic pollution.

Or just commit mass hara-kiri.

Even supermarket do not dare to charge plastic bag for fresh produce. Return to past use leaves and newspapers to wrap raw meat.

supermarket plastic bags is the least problem but most visible.

The researcher probably died of shock when see the amount of plastic waste in logistics. The amount of one time use cling warp to hold boxes in place on pallets, protect loose items during shipping.

Also in supermarket packaging. individual wrapped toilet paper then 10 in a pack, then many packs in larger pack. Same for rice. Consumer only see the individual pack on shelf.

Throw full rubbish with plastic bags is OK.

Throw small items into plastic bags into a plastic bagged trash bin is NOT OK.

Plastic bags flying around in open spaces, drains, sea, etc is NOT OK.
