FMS, please take. It's a freebie given by nus. Anyway in FMS the prof will most likely let you pass even if you sleep throughout the whole 1 semester :D

anyway, holy**** there's actually an active stats thread. hi i'm in the same batch as darkzion. can you guys share what modules you are taking for year 2 sem 1?

Thanks~!

do you mind telling me more about FMS please? will there will assignments and how are the lectures like? thanks!

Thanks! is it competitive? like maybe steep bell curve or something? has anyone taken LSM1301 or LAK1201 before?!

if u have taken H2 economics before, then EC1301 will mostly be a revision for u.. jus that the bell curve can be quite steep.. jus becareful and aim for (>98%) for assignments.. which can be easily done as long as u r careful and read the textbook before attempting the assignment.. u may even discuss with ur friends before submitting iirc.

if u have bio background, den u will have some advantage in LSM1301.

with regards to your question on the competitiveness:
personal opinion: if you are good, you are good and it will show.

easy papers are easy to do but not as easy as you think to score because everyone in the cohort also can do it. you can be getting near full marks but due to the BELL CURVE, at end of the sem you might see a A- or B+.

difficult papers are hard to do and it is difficult for everyone. Again, final grade can be quite surprising at times owing to the bell curve.

boded part does not apply to ma mod.. no matter how difficult, there will still be a group of ppl that can do it lol

hi darkzion haha :D i wasn't lurking around, just PASSING BY. hahaha. anyway i'm taking 2132, 2137, 3234, einstein and 1 more i dunno. i really dunno what to do man.

wah 3234.. i dun dare to take lvl 3000 yet lol.... i took einstein before and really enjoyed it haha

- True that. Some people are just naturally gifted. It's okay just accept it. haha

- Any advice for einstein? I cannot s/u so a bit scared lol. Physics knowledge stopped at O levels.

haha u dun really need A'lvl physics cos it probably dosnt help at all. i think interest is very important in this mod.. cos u have to go online and search ard to get a better picture.. also u will need to read some books related to the module in order to do the term paper.

Oh, if ur lecturer is still prof phil chan, dun be scammed by him when he say the test is very easy... cos it is certainly not.. especially the first one.. do-able but still very challenging.

wa what kind of books man

haha jus some books related to quantum or relativity.. u can start by browsing through youtubes for some documentary on the 2 topics.. i find them really interesting.. and if u r not exposed to either of them before, u will definitely feel ur mind blown by the implications of those 2 branch of sci :s13:

i still think ec1301 would be a good mod to take as breadth.. did u get e bcos of ur essay writing skill or understanding? if u hav no prob understanding it den u will not do too badly for this mod.

n haha, the einstein mod will be much more confusing

I'd rather you guys take BSP1005, EC1301 is overrated - well unless if you're intending to take Econs Minor, in which I can't stop you, EC1301 is so packed that you won't understand and appreciate Economics.

and yeah, I took BSP1005 that semester where the midterms got cancelled.

I think it's too late for you to go into bidding for FMS now.. I suppose most slots would have be taken after the initial round 1.

I will suggest you to bid for that during your next sem. Just pump in those p points aggressively.. Don't be afraid to use them since these points are more than sufficient if you are not bidding for hot modules like econs.

I will advise you to go for LSM 1301 if you do not have A levels biology.. I found it easy but not very sure of LSM1302 since I never take it before

I personally think it helps a bit with a little background of A levels physics. Why not choose understanding universe? It is definitely easier than this :)

It's true.. Only pay attention to his lesson and tips, don't listen to him telling you how easy the paper will be

how about food and health? or science of music??

Science of music is very easy if you know your physics Waves topic. But almost everyone scores full marks for the midterm mcq so u must not be careless lo...

The seemingly "difficult part" is to compose music in the form of a midi, which is part of the assessment. Most people would get their musically inclined friend to compose for them.

Food and health should be general knowledge ba... I never took so i dunno.

Take insight to reproductive health in sem 2.. super slack. final mcq got general knowledge question like "how many people are their in the world" lol.

ya... 40% group essay (6 pages, topic e.g. the impact of genetically-modified babies), 60% finals (40MCQ, 5 really-short answer questions).
