Mr. David Chew really is creative. Happened in ST2131 last year when he's course coordinator, and he came up with tutorial assignments, and lowered down the finals to 60% I think.

Come to think of it, group projects are meant to help us, Singaporeans especially, since the ATs only knows how just to mug. But 15% is just too little for the efforts put in. I thought he might put 25% project and 50% finals instead.

I did it for the whole of 4years.. i duno swap how many times riao :(

i scared moi final year they clash then i gg riao cos no more mods to take :vijayadmin:

Last year could always appeal one la. Heard alot of cases where you can do papers back-to-back. Wells, if you're in your final year already hopefully your CAP is stablised :D.

Been waiting to take DSC2006 since Year 2, but it's neither here clash or there clash, and I'm on SEP now - die die would have to take in Yr 3 Sem 2 instead then. Oh wells, **** does happen, really, but it's better for me than to do some UE mods which are practically useless for me in the future.

Hi seniors! I would like to seek some advices from you guys!

Is it advisable to take ST2132, ST2137, ST3131 and ST3234 all together? Am i going to kill myself?
My other 2 modules are einstein(PC) and UTU(gem). Thinking of overloading.

Hope for awesome advices!!!! Thanks!

Lol you are also quite senior le. i am only taking st2132 and st3131 this sem.

Hmm i think statistic major dont really have alot of cores mod to fulfill if not counting yr4. i left only 9 cores for 4 sems. kinda fierce to chiong so many core in one sem.

UTU is understanding universe? If so, den both Einstein and UTU will have project whcih can be quite time consuming, few thousand words report for Einstein (and u might need to read quite abit for ideas/knowledge/facts) and 1 group report and 1 individual report for UTU. not forgetting ST2137 have projects also.. altho i dunno wat the project is about.

And u sld have heard today.. the lecturer said ST2132 is goin to be a killer mod and need to spend some time on practicing also.. so i think it will be quite shag to take ur combination esp for second part of the sem when u need to start handing up ur reports..

To all my fellow stats juniors, I am a Year 4 student now. I think there is a need to clarify some misconceptions.

1) Yes there are a lot of PRCs in stats/maths/phys, but at level 1 and 2 modules, the proportion is still manageable. When you reach level 3 and 4 modules, you will realise the true meaning of minority, when you only see locals filling up the fringes (back) of the lecture theatre. Especially in stats mods, a lot of locals graduate without honours, and hence the concentration of PRCs in 4k modules is really daunting.

2) IMO, their edge expires when you progress up the modules. They only possess a comparative advantage over locals in lower level modules as they have the discipline to mug hard for them. When you reach 3/4k modules, suddenly the amount of content is much less but the difficulty can be placed much higher depending on the lecturer. More often than not, the field will equalize here since at this stage hardwork no longer translate to results.

3) Plan your modules carefully, if you are more interested in modeling and simulation take modules there are plenty of such regression and model analysis modules. On the other hand, modules like mathematical stat, stochastic processes are really more probabilistic in nature than statistic but you cannot really venture deep into applied probability without studying probability and measure theory till you attain proficiency.

Just my two cents of thoughts.
