just signed up for getflix lifetime membership. have set up my PS4 and now waiting for SATV to set up Netflix 4k.

Got Netflix trial working. Does anyone know how to check what resolution is Netflix using in the app? Would really like to know if they are streaming 4k (although I don't have 4k tv yet)

I can't find this program on Netflix search which says it can show your resolution. It's on the browser version though.

Netflix doesn't stream in 4K if your TV isn't 4K. There's hardware requirements that the app will check before allow 4k streaming. If it is streaming 4K, you will see an icon such as this :

In your Android TV open Netflix and search for Test Patterns. Open the video and you can see the resolution and bitrate etc. Give it a while to get the maximum resolution. However you need a premium plan to view in 1080p and above. Also If I am not wrong you need a 4K TV to stream in 4K, but like I said even your TV is 4K, your plan is not the premium one you still cannot stream in 4K.

Ah thanks...will try it out. I'm still on trial, but I selected the 4k plan just to test if it can indeed stream 4k on a non 4k tv. On youtube on a pc, if you select 4k, the images appear sharper than 1080p even though i'm viewing on a 1080p screen. Would like to see if it's the case on Netflix.

Woohoo after reconfiguring getflix dns to the nearest server Netflix(4k too) and Geforce now is working perfect!

I just read somewhere, if you are using the browser to stream Netflix, then it doesnt matter what plan or internet speed you have, it will be capped at 720p. If you are using a device with a netflix app, eg SmartTV or Shield then you can get 1080p or 4K.

sharing my experience.

I'm subscribed to getflix and netflix 4k service. And i also have a 4k TV but somehow couldnt get 4k content to stream.

After some research, i found out Netflix 4k is pretty picky with hardware. Your TV needs to also support HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0. Turns out my 1st generation 4k TV from LG doesnt have either one of these.

I may need to contact LG to upgrade my TV's PCB to support HDCP 2.2.

Not true I'm streaming 1080p on my PC/Phone/4K TV. Streaming 4K fine on my LG43UF690T UHDTV. Geforce Now works fine too, using starhub 100mbps fibre

Like you, I have a 4k monitor and 1st gen 4k Samsung TV, which both do not support HDCP. No 4k for me either

Hmm it seems the issue is with Chrome and Firefox. IE 11 and above can get you 1080p.

audio stuttering on Nvidia Shield TV

just got my nvidia shield TV delivered. After the software update, I find that audio is stuttering, it goes quiet for 1/2 second, then sound is normal for 4 secs then 1/2 second of quiet and goes on like this. This is from streaming Youtube videos and occurs in free games from Google Playstore.
did I just receive a defective Nvidia shield TV?

Could be streaming issues? Plug in a USB storage device with some videos and try playing it. If the audio is ok then maybe the streaming app might be the cause.

The other thing you could try is to do a factory reset.

Hi guys i may get this box over the new Minix Neo U1 which does 4K @ 60fps, but can you confirm this is an open android platform and i can load ANY apks onto it especially ShowBox, Chrome etc?

And i am using a LG EG920T Oled 4k, will i be able to stream netflix 4K from the box on it?

The alteranative is to rip 4k movies via torrent and plug this into the box via USB.

I don't think can advise for this Box. However as for Android TV OS, not all apps for Android can be used for Android TV although most can be side loaded. That being said alot of apps are being developed for Android TV now compared to when it first launched.

I have the same problem with the Vol Up and Vol Down buttons, not very responsive must press a bit harder. The home button on the other hand is actually a capacitive button.

Thanks jayz_sg u r right. The youtube reviews on the Nvidia Shield refer to side loading the APKs.

I also see some comments on users on the net who tried to directly install the APKs and even when these are on a HDD via USB the Nvidia does not pick up the file

I think I may consider the Roku 4 or Minix Neo U1 instead as these are bona fide open platform android boxes with no proprietary restrictions on Apk installations.

In case you guys not aware, the shield game controller can be used as a game controller on your PC if you have a Nvidia graphics card. It is however only via wired connection. But works great, similar to an an xbox one controller.
