5.1 surround from Netflix

Presently I have a Shield Pro connected to TV and also a Sony HTIB connected to TV by HDMI(ARC) and optical output from TV back to HTIB. I cant get any rear surround sound. I am thinking to upgrading to an AVR. Can someone confirm that Netflix broadcast in 5.1.
Thanks

Didnt work for me too, dns server set to usa but pricing in gbp.
Anyway geforcenow became may after awhile, the lack of vibration and messy button settings(because games are pc based, eg require u to press e to dodge but obviously theres no such button on the controller)

Since 3.0 update, no random restarts/wifi disconnects so far...I must say netflix in 4K, Popcorn time are must have

Sucks... I managed to complete batman arkham origins during the free trial only... sigh...
Anyone knows how to configure Kodi to grab shows from Synology NAS
I am a network nut. :o

Depending on the program, some may not be 5.1 in that event it will only play as PCM.

Hi guys,

Anyone managed to use the shield TV to watch our Singapore local channels? Either using any apps or any digital signal antenna to connect to our shield TV?

Wanna confirm if Nvidia Shield can output 4K Netflix for non-HDMI 2.0 and HDCP2.2 4K display?

AVR have more flexibility. Can get 5.1 in movies. Even if cannot, u can use AVR to give surround effect. However, the best is still using bluray with 5.1, 7.1 etc

Netflix on SATV is very picky of which AVR you use.

Best to do some research here. https://forums.geforce.com/default/...tv/setup-help-for-netflix-5-1-surround-sound/

From what I know, only if your AVR can decode EAC3 (Dolby Digital PLUS) , then you can enjoy Netflix in 5.1. All other Dolby codecs are not supported for 5.1.

There are GeForce Now servers in APAC. I believe the servers are in Japan.
Go to https://shield.nvidia.com/support/geforce-now/system-requirements/1
and run the network test. I am also on 1Gbps and have no lag, smooth 1080p60 streaming. Also I am on LAN.

Just to check - does Geforce Now require a VPN or DNS to work?

No. There are GeForce Now servers in APAC.
But if you use a DNS service that happens to route GeForce Now traffic as well, then you will get terrible speeds, as you will connect to US servers instead of the APAC ones. My previous DNS service provider had this issue, I switched to GetFlix and there was no problem afterwards.

There is a deal for lifetime subscription now. https://deals.androidauthority.com/sales/getflix-lifetime-subscription?rid=2325549
