On another note: The NAPFA that I will do pre-enlistment (to try to avoid PTP). Will it be like the new IPPT? (i.e. 2.4 km run, push ups and sit ups?) I will be doing the NAPFA around the October-Feb time period most likely (due to my likely enlistment time).

Thanks for the info. You said " Those not in leadership batches will still go to command school, provided they are IB diploma students as well as international school students who have returned from overseas to complete NS." However, I am a student at an international school in Singapore e.g. OFS, UWC, TTS (don't want to disclose). This is what I meant by international school (i.e. non local school in Singapore). Does this change my chances to go to OCS?
to be honest, i am in no position to say why you should trust me over him. all i can tell you is what i said is definitely not as sweeping a statement as he is saying...

I don't think there is ever an instance of people definitely going into command school by virtue of them being an international school student with IB diploma. i know he didn't use the word "definitely" but he seems to be implying it from that statement.

Unlike poly diploma that is from what i know very individual to each poly, IB if not wrong has an international standard, so it should carry the same as ACS I kind of IB hence I feel that you shouldn't worry too much about it. Even if really they view it different, i don't see what you can do now that will change your chances. maybe the only other method is signed on. I believe you predicted to get almost perfect score should know what i am driving at...

i am a bit puzzled. are you done with school or not yet? If you are going to enlist around that time, why are you doing your NAPFA only around that time?

Wait I'm confused. When am I supposed to do NAPFA? Suppose I am meant to enlist in Nov or Feb. I heard people do it just a few weeks or a month before enlistment? I'm not done with school, will be done in june

You should do it as early as possible. if u do it only after u get ur enlistment date, you maybe throw into the next batch of the non ptp batch if u get at least silver. which u do not want.

Experience army first before deciding whether you want to chiong for ocs/scs. It's not for everyone as leadership in army is very different from school/work.

napfa result only determines if your service length is 1yr 10 months or a full 2 years.

during your BMT phase, you can still make it for gold if your physical fitness allows

for command school: Welcome Message by SAF Commander BMTC :: Welcome to BMT Graduation

it is good that one has the interest in command school, but be sure you truly understands the culture and life.

but take special note that by being an officer, your NS liability after ORD can be demanding in terms of physical, responsibility, number of ICTs and the duration of ICTs. These factors will have some impact in your life being as a NS-man.

maintain an open mind. hearsay may be different from personal experience. some people may have difficulty adjusting to regimentation. just do your best. I've had friends with IB in command school and also in service vocations, so it's a mix (like it is with the leadership batch - can't have too many leaders).
