i'm a 1st car owner. I recently bought a 2nd hand car from a dealer @ AML.

The car was advertised mileage 30K after I took over the car for a mth. I found a post on tribecar Facebook page with the same car plate number mileage showed 144k.

The dealer ask me down to have a chat. Can I reject the car and ask for compensation for my time n effort spend on the car?

Did you go verify what the value is?
I was planning to call CASE today.

but I want to know what are my rights since I sign on the purchase agreement and got the bank loan. Am I allowed to return the car back n forfeit this agreement?

I feel cheated by the dealer over the mileage although they claim they know nothing abt it. I feel that they lie.

Why don't you look at the resources available on their website first?

You would need to consult a lawyer to know about your rights.

Call up CASE. Let them give you their advise. What i can recall is:-
1. CASE will call up the dealer that sold you the car. For a meet up and discussion to resolve it. Letters will be send to them to fix up a data and time at CASE office.
2. Dealer refused and ignore calls and letters for a meet up, CASE will call you to escalate up the matter, via legal route. Your case is consider fraud. Dealer should be smart enough to avoid legal route and settle it via CASE.
3. IMHO, better get CASE into this. As 3rd party.
4. If the meet up arranged, rem to go in with your expectations. For example, you want a return of the car... if not agrred by dealer, get a xxxx amount of compensation.....etc. Tuned up your nego skills.

BTW, which dealer is this sia?

Good luck !

I think it will be better if you have a clear idea of your desired outcome

Do you want a refund and to return the car back to the dealer?
Or do you want some form of compensation from the dealer and still want to keep the car?

30k Vs 144k is a very big difference, how old is the car?
Even if you drive 30k a year the previous owner would still need to drive it for almost 5 years. 30k definitely feels too good to be true.
I'm also assuming no longer under AD warranty/servicing?

the car was 3yrs 5 mths when I bought it.

my aim was to return the car n get a full refund back plus some compensation for the time wasted.

the car I bought was honda fit so it's parallel import.

Most likely is tampering.
This is a known practice in car dealer trade. Lower the mileage and sell higher price.

144k for 3.5 years is really high, looks like the car may have been used for PHV oor car sharing (through tribe)

I have no exp on dealing with this but compensation might be tough, your best play is probably to get it back to the dealer and get your money returned.
Before you initiate the case with CASE be prepared with all of the evidence you have that indicates the tampering. The CASE officer will help you write to the dealer with your intention for a refund.
