Does anyone know a place to see the G9 in person? Interested in this, but kind of turned off by the price. Not sure if the Aftershock X490 Pro can compete anot

There's a bunch of people complaining about the Odyssey G7 having flicker issues that is still there.

You might want to see if the issue is fixed before buying.

That's why I was hoping to see if it's actually worth in person, at least a preliminary look of it, to see for myself if I can live with the issues.

For anyone interested in taking a look at a demo unit, I messaged Samsung and they mentioned that Best Denki in Vivo and Harvey Norman at Millennia Walk should have demo units. Will be headed down soon to take a look for myself

Yup it's still there, seems like a samsung pop-up store with the monitors. Dropped by 2 weeks ago and saw both the G7 & G9 on display but did not went in to take a look.

Visited all the locations mentioned, no G9. The 49 inch at SLS Samsung pop up store is not G9, but the other 49 inch model.

So sad. Looks like a leap of faith is required

Samsung reps came to my place and checked out the monitor. They said they replace with new one from new batch coming in mid Sept and I can keep the one I have until then. Great service and looking forward to the new G9 arrival.

As a note, the monitor works fine at 240/120/60hz. HDR looks good for a VA panel and Freesync Premium at 240hz behaves. The PBP works for my PC and 2019 Macbook Pro. Shame it only supports 60hz but hoping to create a custom resolution as some CRG9 owners to get 100hz. Small issue with Macbook and Pink screen but I replaced my adapter and all is good now.

Cheers,
My new G9 arrived today. Samsung rep came to my place and installed it and verified everything was working. Fantastic Customer Service! Took back the original defective unit of course.

Some data points;

1. MFG date is in August. Serial number contains N8 in it.
2. Already upgraded to 1005.4 firmware.
3. My flicker has gone away. I have a 5700xt and with Freesync on no issues.
4. I think they might have changed the defaults as Brightness now comes set at 60. Likely because of the heat that is generated from the 100 setting.

Happy to report that I have no dead Pixels and no Bezel separation causing light bleed. Lets hope it lasts.

Cheers

10 days with the new replacement and all good. Waiting for the 1006.2 fw upgrade to be posted on the Singapore or Us site to gain PbP 120hz.

Hopefully the new August onward batches are like mine.

Cheers

I never support kimchi brands for any displays. NO f***ing way.

There are only Korean and Chinese display makers if I am not mistaken. In any case, objectively I don't feel that there is anything wrong with the display panel. Rather it is the build of this monitor. I feel in this case, Samsung appears to have created an over achiever, but the design of the monitor itself don't seems good enough. Personally, I tend to avoid any "complete" products from Samsung, i.e. phones, TVs, washing machines, etc, because while they look good on the outside, I don't think they are build to last. Things like RAM, display panel and SSDs which are components of a finished product is fine.

The version is FA01 and as mentioned mfg date is 08/20. Not sure if they will bump the revision anytime soon.

G9 was at all time low price from 12-2am earlier at $2465 before coupons on Samsung Lazada official store. Resisted the temptation until i can let go of my CHG90 :o

Bought my Samsung G9 yesterday, try the 240hz with no issue. However, today when I set it to 240hz again, the display truned black. I have to reset all in the monitor to get back the display. Tried many times all same results. It is a faulty panel? Mine panel mfg date is 23/8/2020 L5 line. My graphic card is a Nvidia GTX3080.

Upgraded to 1006.2 and PbP for both PC and Mac now run at 120hz. Happy days. Freesync @240hz works fine running F1 2020 on PC Steam. Buttery smooth.

Cheers

Don't own a G9 but I bought a G7 27" back in August. Just noticed some flickering a few days back and the jog button decided to die on me a couple of hours ago.

anyone preorder the 2021 version with miniled which makes HDR finally worthwhie? :o

our local prices not bad at all

really good blacks now :o

The move to mini LED makes it quite interesting for me as well. At least I feel this is more worth it than going with the Asus mini LED monitors which cost more if I am not mistaken.

As for the blacks, I think you need to be careful though. I can't recall how many zones there are, but considering that the iPad Pro 12 with mini LED and significantly more zones than any monitors out in the market, it was showing significant blooming side effect. I am not sure if that can be corrected by software, but each of the panel technology will have their pit falls.
