If you bought the 20TB Seagate Ironwolf Pro, do remember to test upon receipt.

I just returned mine.

Can power up with lots of disk activity but unable to detect in BIOS. Tested with different working ports and cables. Interesting thing is that the brown box has a label stating DOM: 1 March 2023 but the label on the HDD states the DOM is October 2022. Suspect could be a returned item.

What is the best way to test the drive? I had to return one DOA. Another one seems OK but not sure if it will fail after some time.

I put all new HDDs through WD Data Lifeguard's SMART Quick and Extended tests.

For existing HDDs, I run smartmontools to look at the error messages, if any. This actually flagged one of my two HGST 4 TBs as failing even though it was still working fine. Backed up and ordered a replacement which arrived shortly before the HGST failed.

Some people run bad blocks on linux.

I'm lazy so i just run an extended smart test, then start to use it for non-mission critical data or data that I have copies of. I only trust the drive after like a month or 2.

I used Amazon for the first time and I’m baffled why my 1 package containing just a SSD doing a U.S state road trip.

Placed order on 1st May, till now still in the US after going through Kentucky->Cresthill(Illinois)->Wisconsin->Chicago(back to Illinois again??) Is this the norm for shipping to SG from Amazon US? :s11:

whats the estimated date of arrival? Mine ordered on 3rd May, shipped on 4th went one round US --> Dubai --> China --> Singapore yesterday (Monday) received already. Estimated Arrival date is on Wed.

As long as it arrive within the stipulated date they gave you is ok (generally 1 week+) but if they didn't deliver on time, you can ask for shipping fee waiver or sometimes they'll auto refund you the shipping fee.

I feel like US->Dubai->China-> is reasonable. I expected mine to follow a similar route jumping to a couple of countries before arriving here.

I didn’t expect it to be bounced back and forth between states in the same country. I purchased on 1st May, original estimated arrival was 22nd May lol. Then updated to 16th May. Yeah still plenty of time for it to arrive within given time frame. Just puzzled by their logistics process choices.

I think its normal since yours isn't expedited or express delivery option, it would be slower but when it gets to the airport it should be a straight freight to Singapore.

I generally doesn't track or see the status unless its urgent or I need to know the exact arrival date else let Amazon do their job, they never missed any deliveries for me so far they are by far the best in logistics with years of experiences.

Hey bro... the TCL 10 Plus is now going for a very good price so wat the heck I'll just buy it haha... can I ask u... for items sold on Amazon US like this phone... can we buy Amazon gift cards on Amazon sg and use them to buy them?

Nope.

Good price but do remember to check the item on receipt as seller is small third party.

Any extra PCIe slots? Can get cheap adapters for your spare slots to fit extra m.2 drives, no drivers or software needed.

My MB currently only have a PCIE2 as per photo below.
Above adaptor can use?

Also i saw on shopee that the adaptor got 2 models - NVME 32gbps and NVME 64GBPS.
Which one should i get ah?

PCIE2 is your GPU slot ......

Your MB has a second M.2 slot on the bottom right. Shouldn't you be using this instead if you need another one?

2nd M2 slot on fits SATA if first slot is NVME.
Sianzzzz

Like tat means the adaptor can fit on the bottom PCIE3 slot? or can i fit the adaptor into the PCIE 1 slot?
If i did not rmb wrongly, the bottom PCIE3 slot is blocked by my GPU.

I do know that currently my PCIE 1 slot is taken up by my Wifi Card which I don't use at all now.

If you use the 2nd NVMe slot, it will disable one of the Sata port. Both M2 slot support NVMe.

I got this from the manual

* M2_2 and SATA3_3 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the other one will be disabled.

So means i was wrong in my understanding and you are right.

But i also have a secondary HDD. Does it mean that if i use the 2nd M2 slot, my HDD will be disabled?

Apologies because very noob to all these.

Only SATA 3_3 will be disabled. You can still use the other 3 SATA ports.
