Any thoughts on the recently released gaming chromebook. Was ready to get the lenovo one but it was OOS within 1~2 days, the price is really too good even by chromebook usual pricing.

My Lenovo Gaming Chromebook just arrived. Nice upgrade from my old Chromebook. Haha

I got it for USD399, with shipping and gst etc, the total is about ~SGD750

I was considering a few laptops with similar specs (processor, RAM, storage, display size) and the price is really what made me decide to get this one, though I had to give up on touchscreen and 2-in-1 function

After using for these 2 days, I can say the it has generally lived up to my expectations. It is fast and switching between windows and desks is seamless and with no lag. The screen can get very bright, which should be good for outdoors usage, I only need to set it to 30-40% normally

The keyboard and trackpad is good and the multi color backlight is quite a fun novelty, though I am not a gamer

One letdown is the sound, while it is acceptable in general, when the volume is turned up, the clarity is not there, quite unpleasant really

Also, the whole thing is plastic but sturdy enough. The lid has a two tone color scheme but doesn't have the design pattern on it, unlike the picture in the chromeunboxed.com article. Being a 16", it is definitely heavy, especially since my previous chromebook is only a 13".

Yeah, the shipping weight was >6kg and that's what comgateway charges. Also had to get insurance for the shipping, pay 5% service fee on the gst. Also, the credit card exchange rate was bad, SGD1.47 to USD1. But I think it is still worth it.

Unfortunately, it is not available on amazon, might have some savings on the shipping.
