Today managed to go window-shopping at last! Pasir Ris near Elias area got one shop called Bike World, they quote me GT 2009 Ava3.0 Disc for $630~. But I rode my friend's Ava3 and felt the alivio R/D got alot of lag in terms of input vs actual gear change.

Shd i pay extra 100-something to get the Ava2 from the Whitesands shop???

I was open to other brands, but the Kona models I saw werent as competitive in their offerings as compared to the Avalanche.

Thanks for your advise. I am looking to buy by 1st week of dec.!

avalanche? seriously over rated even thou my wife owns one.

I know its very common and may be overated (as with many popular products). But within the price bracket I am looking at, I cant be too picky. If you have any suggestions, please recommend, because my knowledge is just scratching the surface of it all.

Do a search on my posts. I have a similar budget as yours. $300 - 350. You don't have much choice. Much less a GT, diamondback or Haro. :)

Do some research on togoparts, smbf too. They are useful. Drill down to a couple that you like than ask for opinions from the experts here.

Kay Guys i'm planning to get a hardtail mountain bike because i don't have much budget
Budget :$300~$350.

Height : 170cm
Toe to Thigh level : 90cm

what size of mountain bike fit me for my height
and the crank length ?

Which shop have good customer service and wide range of bike to pick from?
cause i heard some shops kpkb de...

i hope the uncle wont scam me seeing me as a noobie... thats what i worried most...
Can follow some of the suggestions earlier :D But since you stay at AMK, C2C is probably your easiest bet. You're generally safe if you go with shops like C2C, L&T (Tampines) and probably even Hup Leong (Chinatown). Get someone experienced to go with you. ;)
my tubeless tyres kinda keep leaking air from the valves.. help!?! :( wat can i do

Yo, check and tighten the lock-ring fully onto the rim. But before that, you might want to use some of those stuff like Stan's No-Tubes. :)

how much than can afford GT,Diamondback,Haro,Hasa?

I think for your listed budget, can aim for the usual suspects: GT/Giant/Jamis. Those 3 brands usually have good frames but the trade-off is probably not as good parts. But don't worry about the parts since you might want to change them out later on. Get the bike with the best frame you can buy for your money, since the frame is the largest and most expensive thing to change later on.

confirm got my budget bikes in their shop?

the bike alone maybe the most i can is $400 loh...
Not too sure, I haven't been to C2C before, but you can ask some of the buddies here :D
so what you suggest for me?
the brand and frame...
Brand: Giant/GT/Jamis/Haro
Frame:

Giant Boulder(?)
GT Aggressor
Jamis Ranger
Not too sure about the Haro, haven't followed them since the last time they pulled my heartstrings with their Extreme EX2.0 but I chose the Giant NRS instead after being psychoed by a cycling buddy. :o
