I am not sure abt XT hub but upgrade to another higher wheelset. Acceleration is easier and faster. Yr top seed in flat road and downslope will definitely improve than yr previous record without upgrading yr stamina and strength.

One thing to take note. Good wheelset does not just depend on yr weight and hub. Yr rim ,spoke are equally important. If u use XT hub lace to lousy spoke and rim. The wheelset will be equally lousy and makes no different from yr previous wheelset. Meaning 0% improvement.

A light wheelset only improves in climbing. A light wheelset does not neccessary improve yr acceleration and top speed in flat road.

I stress on one thing. Stiffness of yr wheelset is very important. A very stiff wheelset will hardly waste a single jol of yr stroke of pedal. Meaning very efficient wheelset.

I remember when I upgrade my wheelset. I can feel so much power and acceleration on my bic. Previous road I can hit 38km/h with my old wheelset. Now can hit 43km/h with new one.
Second that, before i upgraded my wheelset and tires, i can only hit around 35-36km/hr on hard pedalling. After changing wheelset and to semi slicks, hit almost 44km/hr with much less effort. Changing from knobs to semis, my acceleration/power improved alot, can hit 20km/hr more easily with a few pedals. But also means i'm exerting less...just more efficient :s13:

my giant iguana disc is currently using

Michelin Country Trail, 26X1.95

thinking of getting slicks.... went to C2C. the guy recommended some 1.5 slick tyre pararacer or smoething liddat. can't exactly remember the brand...

but instead of diving straight into to changing it... thinking of doing osme research first... would it be better if i get 1.4 instead? O_O

still quite new into MTB, hope some bro can help me on tips to get a good pair of slicks.

Vredestein Perfect Moiree slicks, 1.5 i think.

current wheelset, syncros ds23, dt spokes, xt hubs.

Can say quite a big diff from my stock hubs.

Still learning from bros here.

If u have budget, I recommend u to change yr rim to Mavic 717 or DT 4.1. It might have further improvement in terms of acceleration or yr top speed.

syncros ds23 rim is not very good for performance but in terms of off road beating like X-country. I believe it is a tough rim.

the guy say 2.0 is better than 3.0...

he recommends me buy 1.0...

so i a bit stunned... need 2 do more study on bikes then...

One thing I found out in bikes is there is almost always something better for a bit more money. If you didn't set a limit on what you want and your budget, there is a chance of spending and spending...that is known as "Poison" in our biking community. :D

Basically this sort of poison exist in almost all sort of expensive hobbies I know of, like photography, computers, fish keeping, cycling, RC cars etc...

i think your using a metric system tools, maybe the one you need is english system type of tool.

metric = measured in mm,while english measuared in inches. thats why you cant find the right size...

well, this is just my wild guess... :)

I think V brakes version does not come with disc compatible hubs, so most probably u have to change wheelset.
