Same thing...mine is an LTE set and also having the SAME custom ROM message when I perform an OTA software update check. I wondered can we use KIES software to perform the update instead?

This can't be right...Samsung SHOULD acknowledge that the issue is not one or two few isolated cases...it affects MOST if not ALL users. I bought mine at Harvey Norman.

As for accessories, I thought bro adix82 have a couple of cases for the Note Pro 12.2...but he doesn't have any screen protector :(

Made a trip down to SLS today and confirmed no screen protector and third party cases as well.

uploading the settings
l3vwiQt.jpg

On my device, the "Device status" is shown as "Official" not "Custom".

Noticed the "SE for Android status" on mine is shown as:

"Enforcing
SEPF _SM-P905_4.4.2_0004" whereas in the above it is "...006".

All other information are the same as above. Has this got anything to do with the status?

Mine is a LTE set and bought from Best Denki

Ok everyone, just got my Note Pro back.

Here is what was confirmed and discussed with one of the Duty Manager at the Marina Square Service Centre.

1) They have reflashed another rom into my note pro and its still has the same issue with custom device status and modified software.

2) Though they say that they have flashed the latest and same rom into my device, I do notice that it is now a Singtel rom as it has some Singtel apps there.
Mine was previously XSP but now its SIN when I look at the Samsung Kies. It is also showing SEPF_SM-P905_4.4.2_0004 for the SE for Android Status. I can't remember what it was in the XSP rom.

3) They have informed me that its a bug and noted on the service report that it is something that they will try to resolve in the next firmware update. I think its their way of saying I cannot solve it now and will need further investigations while not holding on to my device.

4) They informed me that if the software update cannot be done either OTA or through Samsung Kies due to this modified software issue then we will have to bring it back down to the service centre for them to flash it for it. I guess that means its going to be a data wipe of our device. This is going to be very inconvenient!

5) One good thing is that they say that my warranty is still intact as they have other ways to detect if your device has been tampered with. I guess that's where KNOX comes into play. I got them to sign black and white on my service report that its a bug to be resolved in the next update and my warranty is still intact.

6) I have informed them that there are many people with these issues also at the moment with the LTE version and asked if they will have a recall in anyway. I didn't really get a reply on that but I gathered that they are still going to investigate further and hopefully the next firmware update will really fix the bug.

I know this issue might be unimportant to some people but I hope I would have at least helped some confused people out there to clarify that it is now a known bug to Samsung and hopefully they will not start voiding people's warranty next time when people bring their Note Pro 12.2 in for servicing.

Thanks.

A mass voiding of warranty is not possible...but recall of the sets sold in Singapore (should not be many IMO) for the past weeks can be managed albeit there will be a lot of unhappy customers...taking half day leave to go down to the service centre.

If the "bug" can be resolved via firmware update and thanks to you for highlighting to Samsung (Singapore), then owners of the Note Pro 12.2 can sighed a relieve for now.

We shall wait and see...after all Samsung has been known to screw up its firmware - look what happen to the Kit Kat 4.4 update that prevented the 3rd party case cover to function properly after the update.

My set comes with two issues:

1) 'Custom' status which I believe common. Is every XSP (non-telco) unit have the same issue or it is just a few 'lucky' unit?

- I had this issue with Note 2. Once flash next time with KIES, should solve the issue.

2) My unit cakes with a non-aligned camera. The camera lens is tilted about 15-20 degrees. I seldom take any picture with tablet and it works fine but must compensate for the tilt. I bought it last Thursday, any idea if this needs to go for repair or 1-1 exchange since less than 1 week?

I also have the error: "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available"
"Enforcing SEPF_SM-P905_4..4.2_0006"

I've logged a ticket with Samsung cos I don't want to go all the way down, only to get the same error still. Anyway, will screenshot the ticket as proof.

I've got another error... I use S Notes extensively, and time to time I get "Unfortunately, S Note has closed". Anyone else got this error?

Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the Notes 12.2.

no im not in hiding mode. my samsung laptop and S3 have no problem detecting and connecting to the 5ghz band

if reset both route n tablet can't help, u might want to try it on lock bandwidth, instead of automatic.

Can u all post your setting screen, under devices, about software..

That way can reference easier.
Use the clip tool with screen write with air command and upload to imgur.

You can show the Samsung rep to build a case.
