last question: say i wanna make a right turn at a cross junction, should i filter out (safely of cos) to the right lane and turn like vehicles do or stick to using the traffic lights?

For me , it will depend on traffic. If its heavy, I will stick to use traffic light. If its light traffic, I will turn like vehicle. In sg roads, most driver are impatient. They have no time to wait for slow speed cyclist like us.

hi all!

would like to get some opinions on road bikes...

first of all i'm a starter looking to cycling as a form of exercise and recreation. as much as i can cycle, i don't have much confidence cycling on the road itself. as such, i'll most likely cycle in the wee hours when traffic is minimal. is the learning curve for starters steep? and what bikes should i go for as a starter?

i was recommended the polygon helios 300 but i prefer the F300 cos i'm quite cheapskate (according to Rodalink's prices). any comments?

also, any tips for safe cycling?

yes i got them, albeit i think i forgot the front lights....

EDMW having a cycling trip soon, considering joining...

hi!

i just got my cycling shoes and after fitting the cleats onto them, i had trouble unclipping them from the bike pedal (both legs) so i removed the cleat from my left shoe and leave it clipped onto my left pedal,

is it advisable/common practice that cyclists screw one cleat to their shoe first, while the other stays clipped onto the pedal??

well u go shimano website see, the lower they are at the bottom, the lower the grades. XTR being the premium parts for shimano, sits right at the top.

i would just mount kerb, and wait for green man. safer

ic. thanks. btw, anyone has any idea of what's the price for gary fisher marlin, and marlin disc. treknology website doesn't provide price lists :\ also, which size suits me better, 19" or 17". i made a horrible mistake by buying 22" half a year ago. i'm 1.85m tall and my crotch just nice touching the top tube of a scott aspect 50 when i'm standing, just to give a better idea.

well ur best bet would be to head down the bike shop and ask if u can have a standover of the bike, see if it touches, or do ur home work, like going online seeing what size frames are suitable for ur height, i think height is one of the concern, the other would be ur inseem, hope i didnt spell wrong, its the length of ur inner side of ur leg

You can aim for Giant XTC SE2 range. But still need to up your budget slightly ....

BTW I just found out they got the SE 4 range also, which should be much suited to your budget.

They only have international site. The only difference I reckon is the color lor and a little difference in parts. Best is go down so that you can see the actual bike and see which frame size is suited for you. Different manufacturer's sizing differs in one way or another.
