Know of some employers who use it to slyly reduce headcount, and sometimes also to avoid paying retrenchment benefit at the same time...
actually in singapore context... can just terminate outright without reason also... don't even need PIP.
The onus is on the terminated employee to proof it is unfair dismissal.
PIP is just cover ass.

just wondering, does being put on PIP mean there is no ground for the employee to later fight that it is unfair dismissal, after they were assessed to fail the PIP and are asked to go ?

say the reason is something arbitrary like "LWZ's poor Chinese proficiency has hindered the team's performance in China assignments" or "Shion is not a team player, needs to work on his soft skills"

Hahaha. U still can dispute. But the onus is always on the employee to prove it is unfair even with pip. Or even the pip is unfair by itself as well.

Just that pip supposedly is employer giving employee chance to improve.

same predicament but never dio pip. bruh. time to look for job. If possible, quit before the pip expire.
I see.. it’s always hard when you put in effort yet can’t meet their expectations.

it’s a short pip of a month but notice is 2 months, guess I’ll start sending and tender before the pip is up.. appreciate the feedback

hard to dispute one and even if u manage to stay, it will feel awkward for everyone.

cos even if go to HR, who is paying the HR celery. HR sure side with the bosses and management. unless it's like government organizations where you can go to some other place to voice out your grievances and maybe get a transfer instead.

I think LWZ is talking about dispute after being dismissed?

That one can fight if have strong enough evidence to go Mom. (Eg. You get dismissed with reason being performance issue when you just got promoted 6months ago.)

That's why companies prefer to ask the employee to ownself resign...

Just tender and go, the pip is used against you without needing any numbers or what, they can just cite you underperform without providing much information unless you are sales, which numbers speak.

Yes. Usually is too difficult to prove it is unfair dismissal.

Yea well, it’s almost at the end of pip, I’m still sending out resume. I guess if it doesn’t work out they’ll ask you to submit resignation right

personally I wont submit resignation if kena PIP I feel. unless I feel I really cui and not up to standard, then I will.

But if I tried my best already and don't see anything wrong, I rather let them terminate me than I resign.

Just wanted to get some feedback from you guys, is taking half days to attend interviews very obvious?

especially if you take it once or twice a week?

I always do that...

But even if employer know, what can the company do? If they become aware and you are a good employee, all the more they should come talk to you to address your concerns.
