Probably not enough time to plan such major scale. How long ago do you think this team of 4 know they are contesting SK?

Probably nothing in the pipeline? Playground can upgrade how many times. Want to magic something out also need time.

Almost nothing planned or done on Rivervale side except maybe one CC. And if you notice there is not a single hawker centre east side of Sengkang, all near Anchorvale. Seems like no need to vote for them liao as nothing is planned here.

Been here 20 years. Nothing change. Giving up on them. A strong oppo makes them don't treat sk like slum. 1m not enough to buy condo still dare to use it to build rivervale cc. Lol.. Maybe people living here never pay taxes

Maybe but like I said its all on the west side area. Nothing much on east area. Maybe they gave up on Rivervale and Compassvale, just focus on Anchorvale

Totally is not like we never pay taxes to gov. One strong reason is anchorvale more people vote opposition and younger gen tend to like feedback

There is only one food court (Rivervale mall) which is within walking distance from my place. Else have to take bus to somewhere else just to buy lunch or dinner.

That’s what Potong Pasir did. Lol. Make incumbent invest more time and money and plans while giving opposition a chance.

To really address high food cost, they need to build hawker centers at each precinct within walking distance for all residents so everyone has the option of hawker center food.

And don’t do those funny social enterprise thingy, those are essentially repackaged Kopitiam etc. NTUC already said social enterprise is not not for profit. They need to look at profit.

So we need NEA hawker centres. Not repackaging the current using another name as give the residents.

sengkang people, Ng Chee Meng can be replaced by Seah Kian Peng. Only 4 people, not a loss to PAP also. Remember how LPM flip-flop on PMD's policy...

Is there a need to replace? He can always continue his role in NTUC. No requirements to be MP to be in NTUC.

Please read my replies earlier. Just having NEA run a hawker centre at every precinct will not guarantee you cheap food.

On the cost of food in Sengkang, my take is, the cost of providing cooked food is never cheap. However, I know many stallholders in the mature estates have resisted from raising their prices because the people they are serving are only getting older, and they would rather earn less from each and try to improve sales. They have also said, as the folks leave the world one by one, business is getting harder and young people do not eat their kind of food (can be as simple as wanton mee) anymore, but they are putting up the stall just so that they can still eat. People always complain, why the portions from that stall keeps getting lesser, we should not eat there anymore. I'm not the old generation yet, I grew up eating it, so I will go buy and say, I'll pay you $5 for the large one, which could be just the normal size elsewhere. The observation that food is cheaper in mature estates is more than meets the eye.

And then there is the problem of moving to a new estate or area, where demand is not high enough to sustain costs at the same level, unlike mature areas. Every developing town has this problem. The only way to solve it is to increase the supply of eateries to force prices down, but after a few years, many stallholders will just give up as they cannot afford to compete on price. Some stallowners might innovate to justify selling higher-priced items and get business, this raises the average price of food in the area, but is this considered bad? And young people these days, they get bored of food easily. Even with a coffeeshop underneath, they will travel far out to eat something nice, cos the best stalls won't set up in Sengkang when you can have a ready base of customers elsewhere. And how can the typical Sengkang coffeeshop survive? In the mature estates, the uncles will still come down to have a coffee to contribute some business. It is a vicious cycle.

Anyway to reduce food cost is revamp the way HDB awards the Coffee shop space to the tenderers. Based on the highest price awarded, the owners have to charge higher for rental.

A zi char stall near my LRT cost as much as 18K. Naturally food cost have to be charged higher.

Cheap rental rates like those industrial park will attract cheaper food offers from the hawkers.

What are the numbers on the dots?

The completed built year of the blocks. example 17, refers to the block has completed built in 2017.

The darker the dot color, the newer the blocks.

Notice that Fernvale is not in SK GRC.

Looks like almost everyone has voted once in 2015.
Wonder the new move-in will vote for WP or not.
