I believe the garmen is trying very hard not to cause panic, but whatever they tried to convey if you listen hard enough it's fully in line with global movements. Do you act now or wait for garmen to act on your behalf?

prease kindly advise how to act now...

The issue of misfitting of current skillsets of our workers vs current expectations in workplace is very real, if we cannot transform fast enough or our generation is not hungry enough for success we for sure will be in deep trouble. To me this is more dire than interest rates increase. Singapore with no natural resources nor domestic market will not survive the yolo mindset.

i don't think is a workforce issue (okay, maybe a little?), I think it's more to do with what we have been focusing on since independence (finance and manufacturing), and we are very, very late to the game when developed economies have already retooled their workforce and industries.

Sorry I cannot see any shortcuts, only way is skill upgrade, and I guess, be brave to try new things? ;)
Good news is all the info is out there, available for everyone to use and take.

problem is information overload.
& i am not goot in computer programming or things associated wif hi-tech...

was talking to korlick over lunch... rike gg.com looming...
'cos got reports on ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, in next 10-20 yrs, will put more than two-thirds of pple out of job...

automation will kill a lot of existing jobs.

How to pay hdb if like dat?

dat's why i asked ealier...
de scenario if played out, X15 times like the olden days from 1960s to 1990s... is it sustainable???

last time olden days, no globalization (or should we say, it is at small scale & angmohs only)... we are developing country... 3rd world status...

now, got neighbouring cheaper countries... sinkland getting expensive... still X15 times?
so salary of engineer can become X15??? logical?

Wat do you think our garmen has been doing for the past year?
And I LOL-ed when ppl still think there's much room for property speculations with all the cooling measures in place. Gone were the days when you hear ppl holding to contra 2-5 properties at one shot.

And the way our garmen is woo-ing talents back to sg, smart nation initiatives etc, these are long term strategic moves.

The fair weather foreign talents, or the local talents who were so horrified and disgusted at the trajectory SG is taking that they voted with their feet?

It's the developing countries to look out for....the hungry ones.
If we are late to the game just means we have to put double or triple effort loh, like our founding generation. Better than be sitting ducks....maybe next year I will really have no choice but to take on overseas assignments just to continue to make myself relevant. :(

Another yes man supporter of he govt. surprised it came into general market chit chat.
Maybe have a piece of advice for you. Don't trust the govt too much.
Without China and US, sg is going nowhere. China hasn't finished with sg yet.

i am not bringing politics into market talk. just cant stand when one praises govt to sky high. especially when they are extremely over paid with no results. enough said.

Erm, pls lah, information locally, regionally and globally are all available, coming to a conclusion of the global movements that is similar to what the garmen says doesn't mean I am a supporter of the garmen. Pls don't bring politics here. See and hear and understand with your own eyes, ears and brains. It doesn't mean we will see the same things but at least remove your prejudice. :s22:

Which sentence did I write to praise someone sky high? I will like to use it at work as well.
Thanks for showing? :s13:=:p
