Sorry this is not a smart switch but...

I bought this normal switch assuming no need for neutral wire... but i realize i may be wrong... do I still need a neutral connection for it to function?

Is it possible to use smart wall switches for heater? Purpose is to set a timer and check on app if its switched off (mostly for storage heater)...

Currently in market now... a heater with a digital timer control cost up to $700 and cannot use app to control...

get AOS water storage

I get it why smart switches may need neutral... but why this type of wall socket also need?

you must be kidding man if you ask this.

can you check how your db is wired up? at least read up on RCCB or RCD?

neutral doesn't mean average of live and ground.

Yes. You need a contactor in your circuit to address the high power your storage heater uses. My storage heater is controlled by my wemo light switch and a contactor. Basically your smart switch turns on the contactor which closes the circuit, turning on ur heater. Your wiring is done such that the high power runs through the contactor instead of the switch turning on the heater.

Alternately, if you are not sure on wiring it up, you can just buy this from Amazon. Same principle but costs 3 times as much as what I paid to DIY mine

For any AC powered device to work, you will need a Live and neutral wire. Earth is there for safely reasons so you don't electrocute yourself.
Technically, you could drive a rod deep into the ground and run an earth wire from the switch to it. That's essentially what the earth connection is for. :)

Hi bros, just sharing if u happen to use Broadlink's IHC app... Maybe some of u already know...

Recently found out google app have home control function and now recognised broadlink account too. Meaning.... U can add ur acct there and use hp google-assistant to ON n OFF ur stuffs by... Voice to hp OR by typing!

But i realised doesn't do tv remote... Lights and SCENES work. U can add ur lights to a group and activate the group. Nice...

Im an Alexa user... But i welcome this google-assistant function on my hp! Best is its free.. No need buy any google home or mini.

Wat u need (according to my settings) to have and to do :

1.Google app beta installed on hp (pls google to see how to be a beta user,
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7003180?hl=en )

2. Broadlink IHC app (some lights template to play ard in app, Not tv remote template)

3. Link/enabled broadlink acct to google-assistant settings, home control function.

And u are good to go! Enjoy! :D

Commands are,

Turn on/off {device name}
Turn on/off {group name}

Like to check if anyone is using the rm Pro to control smart plugs. Should I be getting the broadlink sp2 or RF controlled plugs? 433mhz right?

What I'm trying to do is to set up a sequence, e.g. To turn on smart plug connected to an appliance, turn on ac and other rf controlled things.
