People shoot off their mouth without providing source to backup their claims.

When asked for proof of claims, they ask you go google.

When really googled, we all realized its all half truths at best and outdated truth. Why? Because they didn't expect anyone to really go google and they know that the info is there no matter how old.

Its like saying "Bill Clinton still has sex with his secretary" when it was in the past that he did that and doesn't do it now anymore (i hope)

Lol. Not so free to Google the info. I just know that I have read it somewhere before. Since you're so free shouldn't be a problem for you.

It's all about quality control by the respective Brands. Just like a lot of products are manufactured in China, yet they are dramatically different in quality, it's all about QC! Samsung should fire the head of QC.

I still find it hard to believe that its simply an issue of lousy batteries.

All products are made in batches with specific lot numbers for easy referencing and tracing. If it is really a case of battery issue, they only need to issue recall for certain batches with specific p/n.

Secondly, there should always have safeguards and over-designs. If something fails, sensors and fuses should have been activated to completely stop it in case of catastrophic failure.

Lastly, there should be intensive accelerated testing according to an industrial standard. Such testing is used to weed out the infant mortality failures.

Even during my previous job scope, when customer returned failed components, we had to pull data back and checked for commonality and traced them and checked whether other OEMs are facing the same failure. All these are extremely important for tracing, investigation and accountability.

I don't wish to speculate what happen to the exploding samsung note 7 batteries. But such things should never have happened when so many safeguards should have been put in place. And the fact that ALL note 7 have to be replaced is very weird. They actually only need to recall the affected battery batches...

Samsung's one handed operation was first launched on the S5, about half a year before iPhone 6 came out. And yes, it works across all apps and systems seamlessly. But that being said, Android itself does not have such a feature.

Can.. just "root" lo. There are plenty of such mods around.

Tell that to average users who wanna use the phone out of the box immediately. Or tell iphone users to jailbreak their devices.

The antenna gate is easy to resolve. Just give bumper. Won't cause explosion and isn't life threatening.

Like I mentioned, the components listed in the BOM should be easily traceable, with batch and lot numbers traceable. One can even trace to the original supplier, or even trace which production machine, what date/time it was run even in their own production line. This is how they can determine what lots were run within the affected time frame, and then do a "pull-back" and trace every single item. The testing unit should also be checked as to whether the batches were tested, and why it didn't catch the problem. Have they really found out the root cause of the problem?

If all devices were to be returned, my ex-company would already be closed down and sued.

Maybe its easier to do full recall? Only HK and Australia has the option to key in IMEI and check if your phone is affected by the recall.

At least Samsung is responsible, is recalling their phones and will give you a brand new set that will not explode. It will be allowed on airplanes sooner or later..

Unlike... ahem... Apple (steve jobs) who said consumers are holding their iPhones (iPhone 4) wrong when in fact there is a hardware issue that causes reception problems..

Erm.. just to point out. You trying out the iPhone 7 after being a nexus user for a very long time doesn't show that each brand has their pros and cons. I get what you mean but your phrasing is wrong.

Yes. Each brand has its own pros and cons but the Android ecosystem with Samsung as its biggest player have more pros than cons sry to say. But I must admit, Apple is very good with its software optimisation and its marketing skills. The iPhones are very optimised for everyday usage such that it is able to perform even with lower specs. They can also make people believe that the features they "invented" is "the most revolutionary" even if the it is already persent in the Android ecosystem a few years back. You cant deny that!
