I'm not sure if it's across resorts in Maldives. But for us, we bought full board that includes 2 bottles of 500ml mineral water per day and free flow of coffee/tea/juices that are at the buffet for breakfast only. However they do have kettle in our room. Big bottle of mineral water (1.5L) is sold at USD5 at our resort.

Thank for the reply.

Take it this way, with SQ 30kg check-in weight, after all your stuffs (bermuda, shorts, tee, undies and lotions), use the remainder on a carton of mineral water.

That what we did when we go diving there.

on top of the room charges, you have to understand that on the atoll, you have to eat in their restaurants, which is not cheap. and like some posters mentioned, you have to pay for water.

on top of that, some resorts charge for the tf to their resort from male.

mostly. I've been to one that don't charge - although its the closest to male. taj exotica.

with your budget, full board will be challenging. it depends on how much you want to spend really. I would suggest you try samui - they have some nice villas there too.

me thinks if you truly want to experience a proper Maldives experience, it will cost quite a bit. true, I have friends who say that I can spend 2wks in japan with the money I spent in Maldives for 5days, but its your choice :s13: whatever makes you happy.

yup that's right. nua whole day in the resort. for me, considering that im spending 90% of my time in the room, I chose a branded resort.

I used this local Maldives company to handle my booking. I don't know if they still exist. basically I told them my budget, ~1k a night, and they came back with a list of resorts with their insider knowledge (romantic, private, for kids, activities)

the activities are really expensive - all priced in USD. it depends on resort to resort. the bigger ones should have

I did a tour around Male for ~ 2-3 hrs before flying back during my first trip. It's pretty small and nothing much to see imho.

Club Med should cost around there for a water villa if you book during their promo period. It includes all F&B so don't have to spend anything extra. But do note that activities like seaplane ride, daytrips and sunset cruise require $. Also, if you want to dine outside of the buffet restaurant for dinner, it isn't included in your package.

Do they give minerial water or provide kettle for boiling water?
I heard plain water is very expensive..

Back from Maldives~~
update: Their tap water apparently not suitable for drinking, hence even after boiling.

If you bought full board package, breakfast cover drink but lunch and dinner no. They have mini bar which cost some money .. in-house drinking water around 3USD onward.

If you bought package all inclusive, it covers limited drink through out, that include the mini bar which they have listed out the drink that will and wont be charge.

All charges will be settle at the end of the trip, and they have specific waiter to service you in the buffet area.

Impt, the ice coffee is a must to try~~ buffet is good, some dessert you will hard to find in sg.

Overall experience is good, the sunset, the beach etc but beware not to crash with PRC golden week else you will be flood and experience will greatly affected.

Better to book at the resort itself if you happen to find promo, else go for the local tour grp package during road show.

limited activities, mostly need to pay and very exp .. in USD. Roughly diving half a day cost 230USD onward.
