If do that mean 3 years of opportunity cost gone? :s22: capital can be deploy somewhere more productive like reits? KC now is like a person in coma dun know when will wake up. can be tml can be 1 mth can be 1 yr or 10 yr or never.

3 years get 3% dividends for KC

hope 3 years later the stock price will be higher, if not is gg

cold storage means the positions is dead/written off already

dont see the stock so that u dun feel the pain

that's why its bad why one tries to fifo and fails
the position by right is suppose to be cut, yet the person cannot cut
end up get stuck

i prefer to be at least 90% on stocks that I can comfortable holding for dividends

balance 10% maybe can trade a bit for shorter term

at 20 cents dividends still yields 3%, low but better than nothing

I know most investors hate realising a lost

KC is a blue chip, even though its very weak

if u want to put cold storage then u must be serious about it, throw inside 3 years and do not even see the price daily maybe a few months or 1 year see one time the kc price... just delete the price from your watchlist

Ya. Not that I need the money urgently. Just throw everything in cold storage and collect dividends till the share price bounces back I guess. Why react in fear when I don't need the money right? 3 percent yield sucks though :s22:

My aunt also hold keppel and im thinking if i should ask her to cut loss. :s11:

If they didn't average down when it was low then they'll probably never break even on it. The oil game has changed wayyy too much to ever see $100 barrels again barring a major crisis.

Can try to advise her and see what she has to say. Master Leong is right though. Most investors tend to hate realising losses. After all, you can never be sure if the stock will soon bounce back or be sure that if you park your money elsewhere, that the other investment would prove to be a wise choice.

the prob is no one know if its ever gonna recover. its not about FIFO or need money urgently. its about opportunity cost. 3 years for example put in FLINT collect 7% dividend and might have capital gain:s11: but i also no confident to ask my aunt to do it. i see her lost is at least 20k.:eek:

thats the reason i was thinking to ask her divest. she did average down when it was 8 but not really useful.

IMO there are 2 factors to consider......:D

1) Do u think the current weakness is a temporary and KC fundamentals will eventually recover?

2) If u think fundamentals will recover, how long will it take? 3 years? 5 years? A decade?

If u answer 'NO' for question 1, then just cut loss and dun look back...

If u answer 'YES' for question 2, then u have ask urself is the funds better utilised in other more promising counters.....;)

I followed the same process for my M1 and Starhub last year.....and divested both:o

Good Luck!

just 2 things u must take note

1) do not put any more money into KC/SCI or whatever
2) learn from the mistakes, realizing that you could had bought a safe blue chip and easily make like 6% dividends with 3% long term capital gains like CMT

surprisingly KC only drop 3%

maybe investors feel that 2017 could be the bottom already, then 2018 recovery mode

must see after CNY, got aftershocks or not, i think.

my keppel in deep cold storage since 2 years back liao, and counting :s12: meanwhile just heal with dividends, i dont think keppel will go bankrupt
